Re: 33 year old - Stage 4 - no family history

Have you had genetic testing done yet? If your tumor is MSI-H, you may qualify for Keytruda, but you might have to fail FOLFOX first if insurance complains. I also have spread into fatty tissue, and once that happens IV chemotherapy can’t reach soft body tumors well due to lack of blood vessels.

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

I am not sure I experienced the first bite everyone else has since I wouldn’t describe the experience as necessarily painful, but I definitely went through something similar. When I took the first bite of something my tongue would react as if I had eaten something extremely sour and feel really weir...

Re: Anyone with persistent Abscess and strong crampi

Sounds familiar to what I went through beginning around May. Ended up being peritoneal carcinomatosis. Where is her abdominal pain exactly? Does it feel like it’s near the bladder? Edit: I missed the fact she already has been diagnosed with peritoneal spread. So... the only thing that helped me was ...

Re: No confirming diagnosis

Mid summer a cat scan revealed expanded lymph nodes which was deemed to be lymphoma. A subsequent biopsy of the lymph nodes showed almost all dead cells but the few alive indicated colon cancer. Following was a colonoscopy, a P.E.T. scan, a bone marrow test (which indicated 0.2% lymphoma). None of ...

Dr. Stadler is not my primary oncologist but I actually have had appointments with her and she is fantastic.

Re: NYC-Queens-Colonoscopy/Endoscopy

Hi, New here...I just moved to NYC, in Queens and I'm looking for a doctor that does colonoscopy/endoscopy in office with demerol/versed as I'm allergic to propofol. I prefer a doctor's office as insurance gets to be a pain in the butt (no pun intended) with bills from doctor, hospital, anesthesia,...

Re: Family history

Hey guys, My brother recently underwent surgery for bowel cancer in his late twenties, and I've just found out that my grandma also had bowel cancer in her late 20s. Since two relatives have had bowel cancer so young, what age would I be wanting to start screening? I am 23. GPs don't seem to think ...

Re: Keytruda induced pancolitis (help me please!)

Just so this thread isn’t all doom and gloom on my part, I will note that there is no longer evidence of peritoneal carcinomatosis; at all. Largest liver tumor left is about 1 cm. They noted two on last CT they could measure, down from 7 that were originally visible. So I really hope I can get throu...

Re: Keytruda induced pancolitis (help me please!)

Veckon, I'm so sorry!! I know you are asking for dietary advice but if you are not sleeping because of this, I think that even the dietary part requires an urgent intervention from your MSK palliative team. Be a pain and ask them to give you exact directions about what to do. Maybe they need to add...

Keytruda induced pancolitis (help me please!)

Long story short, I developed ulcerative colitis in my whole colon as a side effect of pembrolizumab. They said this happens about 2% of the time so it’s rare but not unheard of. I started a high dosage of prednisone last week which helped curtail bleeding a lot. Bleeding is still improved, but I th...

Re: Rooms at MSK Hospital

I had a roommate but I found the partition pretty good at providing privacy for my wife and I. Very caring and attentive nurses. I was impressed, but it is still a hospital.
