Re: Xeloda/maintenance question...

Oh, and I thought of another question - does Xeloda cause anyone else to have this weird thing like there is something stuck in your eye? I *constantly* feel like there is something in my left eye, same spot all the time, and of course when I go look there is nothing there. It is making me CRAZY(er)!

Re: Xeloda/maintenance question...

Thank you, Maia. :) I am actually already on Celebrex based on Dr. Lin's current study re: progression free time. Since I have not taken Xeloda without Celebrex, I don't know if it makes a difference for me or not. I only know that the 5fu in while doing FOLFOX didn't seem to bother me at all. As fo...

Re: How often do you see your oncologist?

I see mine or his nurse practitioner just prior to every treatment. We go over labs and any questions, then its off to infusion. Question for you - how often does your CEA get monitored? I only ask because mine is checked every round (either every 2 or 3 weeks) and I see some of you are only checked...

Xeloda/maintenance question...

For those who have been on Xeloda... I have a question... I am on my 5th round of Xeloda continuous dosing - twice a day, every day, with no breaks. I am in my 14th week right now. My question is for those who have taken Xeloda as both continuous dosing and the two weeks on/one week off. The hand/fo...

Re: (Another) New Member

I want to start out by saying it sounds like your cousin is lucky to have you as a strong advocate in her corner... I am not an expert by any means, and the answer to what I think you are asking is definitely outside my skill set. As a stage IV patient myself, I think you are asking a question we al...

Re: Colon resection/liver resection/HAI placement

SideKick - I will be having the same surgical team as your husband... I liked both of them very much meeting them, they both seemed so confident and it was so refreshing to hear the words, "We can help you," for once! I am very, very nervous about surgery, but the just the thought of havin...

Re: Another newbie with "old man butt cancer"

Your story sounds very familiar... I had been doctoring for months, due to fatigue and feeling generally like crap - and got the "exercise, sleep better, take your vitamins" song and dance. I went to the ER with abdominal pain, an ultrasound was done, gallstones identified, and liver lesio...

Re: Colon resection/liver resection/HAI placement

Thank you for the advice! I never even thought about my arms and shoulders, guess I will work on stretching them out, too. Question about exercise with the HAI pump in place - since it sounds like you are pretty active - does it interfere with moderate intensity exercise? I only ask because I like t...

Re: Colon resection/liver resection/HAI placement

Amy - Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the details! That helps a lot, knowing from someone who has gone through this surgery, what to expect. I mean, I talked to the doctors and nurses, but it was more a general framework of what would happen - liver surgeon would go first, then colorectal, etc. It...

Re: Colon resection/liver resection/HAI placement

Thank you, Julie, that is very helpful... :) It sounds like I am in a similar situation to you - I am young and in good physical shape - on the thinner side and I exercise daily for the most part. I don't have ANY extra weight to lose, so I should probably try to gain a few pounds over the next few ...

Colon resection/liver resection/HAI placement

I am wondering if anyone has had colon resection, liver resection and HAI pump placed, all at the same time??? How brutal is recovery going to be, would love to hear anyone's experiences...

Re: Chemo Postponed - Still Effective?

I had 2 of 12 rounds of folfox delayed (one due to low counts, the other by my choice - sometimes cancer has to be arranged around my life rather than me arranging my life around cancer.) It didn't have any deleterious effects as far as I know. That being said, the round delayed due to low counts wa...

Re: Newbie here... questions about liver resection...UPDATE!

Amy, I read your 5 year update and your story provides a beacon of hope for me. I hope that 2/20 is as good to me as it was to you... I just want to be around to raise my children so badly, as I am sure you can relate. My daughters were 1 and 3 when I was diagnosed. Stage IV cancer was not part of t...

Re: Newbie here... questions about liver resection...UPDATE!

Dr. DeMatteo will be doing my liver resection. And yes, Dr. Kemeny will be my onc at MSK. I did not get to meet with her this trip, they couldn't fit me in, but I will meet with her when I go back for surgery. I am hoping that I will be able to do all my systemic chemo at home - which is in the Midw...

Re: Newbie here... questions about liver resection...UPDATE!

I had my appointment at MSKCC last week... Success! I will be having my colon, liver, and ovary resected next month, and will also be having the HAI pump placed! So thankful for this forum, without it, I would not have known about the wonderful care at MSK, HAI treatment and the promising results co...
