Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 14 My pattern changed up a bit... had a dr's appt at Cleveland Clinic at 8:45am and it is just over 1.5 hours away. I had to stop twice to go. Usually I don't need to go in the mornings that much. I was slightly late, but they are cool there. Saw the doc, he said everything looks normal and eve...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Good luck to you Justin. When this is all done, it will just feel like a bad dream to you. I am starting to get to the point where it feels like that. Day 13 Was by far the best day yet. I probably went 10-15 times but it was small, almost normal poops. I actually braved going out for lunch with my ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 12 Day started out great, but I got cocky. Had some bread and eggs and ate a single strawberry (missing real fruit. At lunch time I was really getting the urge to get out of the house and had seen the commercial for that grilled pico sandwhich from McDonalds. I thought that might be safe and de...

Re: Ct scan as good as pet scan?

During my whole history of cancer (see sig below) I've never had a PET scan. This is going to Cleveland Clinic Florida, a local Oncologist (Stuart Oncology), getting a second opinion from Moffitt, and a 3rd from Duke University. Then doing a clinical trial and getting scanned at University of Pittsb...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@justin --- ya I am mildly lactose intolerant. The salmon dip doesn't have any milk products in it. I've been drinking decaf and desperately miss reg coffee. Going to test that in the next day or two. I can't go much longer without it. So tired all day without some caffeine. Day 11: Day started off ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 11 Another good day! I woke up, passed a few small ones, and then felt brave enough to take our dog to the local marina area where there is a green market (lots of toilets) and to pick up breakfast from a place I knew sold some stuff I could get that would be low fiber. Made it fine without hav...

Also if you suspect they are trying to "lure" you with a fake diagnosis. Go get a second opinion, and do not tell them the results of the first.

Re: CT Scan said, "colon consistent with cancer"

I can tell you, that Feb of last year I had symptoms. (Blood in my stool) but I thought, and everyone else, that it was just hemmoroids. I am younger (35) and was very healthy. I decided to ignore it... I ran a 16k in April. I won a holiday run just before that. I was in the best shape of my life. I...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 10 -- def my best day yet. I had some issue in the morning time with the urge to go, but nothing would pass. After lunch I had a short bout of loose stool with some urgency but after two visits it seemed to pass with the help of half an immodium. Made myself some homemade chicken noodle soup fo...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@swirdfish --that was just my own terminology. I am not sure what the R status was, but assuming it was clean. Here is what the notes from the doc said: 9/27/16 - MRI of the pelvis, showed a 4 cm tumor, in the mid rectum, stopping 4 cm above the anal verge, no abnormal adenopathy seen, this was stag...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 9 Overall not a terrible day. I slept badly (not do to the reversal) dog woke me up early and I stayed up later than I should, so was tired a good chunk of the day. Thankfully, for whatever reason, I seem to always sleep through the night with no urges to go. My active time seems to be the mid-...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 8: The 2x's does of immodium are still doing better. Day 8 was pretty good overall, except I did feel a little stopped up but the morning went well. Actually messed with some stuff in my yard, as I had some energy. Ate a piece of toast and an egg for breakfast. Had some salmon dip and crackers ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 7 Day 7 was vastly improved. I didn't feel the need to go until very late in the day. I felt that (getting familiar) stomach grumbling feeling later in the day and thought the flood gates were coming. I decided to call the doctor's office and get their opinion. Spoke with the Surgeon's resident...

Re: Question about Dx

Mine told me as soon as I woke up that it is "almost certainly cancer" but the biopsy will confirm. Looking at the picture, mine did not look anything like a typical polyp. My non-blood cousin who had colon cancer just had a polyp in the exact same spot he had the cancer. The dr was slight...

Re: Need advice

Moffit is very good. I got a second opinion from them and live close by (2.5h). Typically colon and rectal cancer is a slow grower... so I personally would rather go to the big institute to make sure I received the best possible care. That is a long wait though. I had a non-agressive form. I had sym...
