Re: Homeopathic Remedies for Fragmented Stools

What has helped me is pelvic physical therapy. My pelvic physical therapist taught me a massage technique that helps gather the stool for one large movement at a time of my choosing, as well as various exercises to help me gain control of my bowels. I highly recommend pelvic physical therapy for an...

Re: A Question for Caregivers

I highly suggest that you find a local support group to help both you and your husband. My cancer center has a GI cancer support group that meets once a month. We often break out into separate groups so that the caregivers and survivors can speak freely amongst themselves. I have also been seeing th...

Re: And so it begins ...

Make sure she is not touching cold stuff right after her infusion. I felt the cold sensitivity in the infusion center after my first infusion. I washed my hands after using the bathroom and the water was too cold, it felt like electricity going through my fingers. I carried gloves with me at all tim...

O/T My Mom - Cancer Again

My mom was having some discomfort in her armpit and left breast reconstruction. Then a couple of weeks ago, a red bruise-like spot formed and started getting larger. She went in for a breast MRI last week and got the results this week. She has a malignant mass in her left breast reconstruction. They...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

I highly recommend finding an oncology counselor for him to talk to. I firmly believe that we all should be referred when we get diagnosed. Also, if there is a support group available, that will help as well. I attend a GI cancer support group every month at my cancer center. I started going right a...

Re: Is it an ovarian cyst or a potential ovarian met?

Hello all, Just reporting back to everybody who has shared your experience with me. Thanks to your advice, I did locate a very experienced OBGYN to check on my scans and did a thorough virginal ultrasound on me. Not only did the cyst become smaller, he is also quite confident it's a simple cyst wit...

I have been seeing the oncology counselor at my cancer center for a while. She referred me to a psychiatric nurse practitioner when we felt medication was needed.

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Before going to bed apply a good amount of moisturising lotion to your hands, then put on gloves and wear to bed for the night. This helps to heal the splits in the skin. Learned this at work long before my diagnosis. I use vinyl gloves, cheaper and easily available at drugstore or hardware store. ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I bought Nitrile gloves in 5 mil and 8 mil a while ago to deal with cracked skin problems with dry, winter weather and I find that they help when I have cold sensitivity in my fingers. The advantage of Nitrile gloves are that you can use touch devices with them. The thicker gloves are stronger but ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I received a big box in the shipping room along with notification. I was expecting the Xeloda pills and Illeostomy supplies. I assumed that they were Illeostomy supplies from the size of the box as the pills usually come in an envelope. I just checked the tracking information and BriovaRX said that...

Re: Is it an ovarian cyst or a potential ovarian met?

My surgeon removed my ovaries and fallopian tubes during my LAR because they "didn't look right. Didn't look right.... did it show in your PET scan? or CEA? or any sign? No, he was literally looking at my ovaries while doing my surgery. He called out to the waiting room and talked to my mom ab...

Re: How important is NCI designated comprehensive cancer center

I should have added, if you do want to go to an NCI designated cancer center, it looks like Winston-Salem is the closest city for you. I can't speak for the care at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University, since my treatment was done at the Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Cen...
