Turns out not everything is a "thing" --Update Good news for IVb

2015 is going to end up as a year without a treatment. I'm pretty happy about that. I have three "suspicious" presumed lymph nodes in my pelvis that we have been watching for a year. My quarterly CT came back again as stable. Everything else is clear. I was expecting I would have to start ...

Re: did any stage 4 quit chemo

I stopped Chemo Nov 2011. I have had surgery and SBRT since that time. Since Dec, have been watching three thingies slowly growing in my pelvic area...If the next scan shows five or more thingies I will probably do chemo. If the same 3 thingies, then hoping to go for surgery or more sbrt. Scanning t...

Re: Coming Up On 100 Rounds

You are amazing and an inspiration. You have inspired me to start bike riding. I've done 650 miles so far this year.

I got tired of sitting around waiting for something bad to happen. I loved seeing your "10,000+ miles and counting" at the end of your posts.....

Keep on truckin!

Re: Question for Stage IVs

I was NED for about 3 years, then had surgery for a liver met and a pelvic met. Then I was clear for another year after that. Last year I had 2 or 3 mets that popped up here and there that I had treated with SBRT. I have been lucky as every treatment has worked pretty well. my cancer is very slow gr...

struggling right now

All, I am hoping you can help me by sharing how you cope. I have been able to manage my stage IV diagnosis over the last 5 years, and the impact to my life has been pretty minimal. I (naively) have been thinking that maybe I just might even beat this. But lately, things are starting to pop up every ...

Re: Question for Stage IVs

I did maintenance chemo for a year after the standard six months therapy. I have not had chemo since 2011. My cancer came back in 2013 and I did surgery, and again in 2014 and I did SBRT. I get scanned every 2-3 months since the recurrence in 2013. Hope this helps you.

thank you all very much for your responses. Especially you Don. Your post made me think. Why after 5 years am I not feeling like a survivor. I do need counseling, I need to unburden myself. Bless you all for your kind words.

5 years and semi clear scan

I'm now 5 years out from my IVb diagnosis. I've been off chemo for over three years. Just got the word that the SBRT took care of my two liver tumors and liver is currently clear. I might have a lymph node brewing in my pelvis ....rescanning in two months to see what is going on. Overall, feel prett...

Hi Sunny D, I'm sorry you are having to deal with this BS. Just wanted to share that I, like you, would have gone crazy without being able to work. I worked all through my chemo...six month of folfox then a year on Xeloda/avastin. Not sure what chemo you will be doing...but chemo was a non event for...

Re: 2014 member update -- for all of us--please post!

For 2015, and in celebration of making it 5 years, I am going to participate in RAGBRAI 2015. A bike ride across Iowa. I'm going to do it with my husband and sons (16 and 13 year old twins). I'm really out of shape, so a little nervous, but looking forward to a life changing memory with my kids this...
