Based entirely on my own experience, continue to have your colonoscopies every 2.5 years, or more often if you can manage it and if you're not doing any other form of surveillance.

How are you getting on? How’s treatment going? Is it working to kick back the mets?

Thanks for asking. Mets are stable or shrinking. Fingers crossed.

Do you know why that is?

No ... but I'm getting my IVC from a naturopathic doctor who is board-certified in oncology and that was her advice when I asked the same question.

You should leave 24 hours between IVC and the infusion. If the pump is still attached, you're still in the infusion period.

Re: 5FU and folic acid

Folic acid is the synthetic form of folate. Folic acid is added to flours and enriched grain products to help prevent birth defects. Folates, which occur naturally in foods such as leafy greens (among others), are good for you. Folic acid, the man-made knock-off, is the problem, and can increase the...

Critical Illness Support Resource

Something Green Tea wrote prompted me to post this. The Living Dying Project is a non-profit organization that offers conscious and compassionate support to those facing life-threatening illness, to their caregivers, to those facing life’s most difficult situations, and to anyone committed to spirit...

Re: Critical illness support groups

Hi zephyr, Thank you for giving the link to that non-profit support organization at the end of your post. After reading their website I realized that the organization offers weekly counseling sessions that are very similar to the weekly meetings of a support group that I attended years ago when I w...

Re: How do you guys deal with anxiety about the situation?

While you're working through the system, you could try some guided healing meditations to help dial down your anxiety. I think the simplest path for this would be the Insight Timer, a free app that is available worldwide. Portions are only available to paying members but there is a surprisingly larg...

Saavy gig: $110, cancer/multiple treatment lines

Here's another interesting Saavy gig. It pays $110 for a 60-minute interview. The informational page (link below) only says they want patients diagnosed with cancer but the email I received from Saavy read, Have you been diagnosed with cancer and tried multiple lines of treatment?, and the applicati...

New Savvy gig paying $495

Savvy has a new gig looking for people (or their caregiver) with solid tumors. It's a 5-day online workshop but only about 3 hours total, and pays $495.

Re: What supplements to take during chemo?

JMHO ... the best answer you'll probably get will be from an integrated medicine physician or a naturopathic doctor who is board-certified in oncology. Ignoring the question about antioxidants and addressing only the what supplements should take? question, there are several standard ones (e.g., mush...

Re: How are you monitored if CEA was not relevant?

In the future how will I get regularly monitored ? My CEA levels before diagnosis was very low so how can I get regular surveillance? What blood test will they use? Or will I get regular CT scans that are a lot of radiation? Everyone will be different, I think. Speaking solely from my own experienc...

Re: Antioxidants and diet

Adding to what I hope might turn into a bigger discussion here, I found this 2018 article on PubMed: "The present review encompasses a total of 174 peer-reviewed original articles from 1967 till date comprising 93 clinical trials with a cumulative number of 18,208 patients, 56 animal studies an...
