Re: How long does the sickness last from chemo?

Like Eric says, everyone responds diffently. For me, the effects became cumulative. after each bi weekely infusion, the effects gradually lasted longer. Be aware of neuropathy effects and tell your ONC about them immediately. It is critical to keep your ONC informed of everything you are feeling. Th...

Re: Remembering Pat (Gaelen)

I never met Pat. Her postings revealed enough about herself that I felt like I did know her though. She was extremely knowledgeable, provocative, succinct and candid.
I miss her.

Re: help recover from ileostomy surgery

the pain should be diminishing slowly but steadily. after a month, he should be feeling significantly less pain. If this is not the case, tell your surgeon. I waited up to 5 weeks with significant pain, and the pain felt like it was in a location that was not close to the inicison and sutures. . fin...

Re: brother just diagnosed T4N2Mx (3C)

we are not Drs and to second guess or diagnose each other is not what to expect from CC. we can only relay personal experiences and histories to each other. every individual's case has to be treated separately. its disingenuous to start comparing and/or expecting similar results. But I think its saf...

Re: Study more chicken in teen diet helps prevent CRC

these studies are statiscally irrelevant. so they are saying the ones that ate more chicken had a lower incideince of colon cancer. how can you make a connection that it was the chicken. how do we know what would have happned if they had the same diet as the ones that did?? are they saying that if t...

Re: Husband starting radiation today

over the counter calmoseptine is good for anal tissue. thats was where my primary discomfort was.
The radiation can be fatiguing, but its cumulative. deeper into the treatments he will start to feel fatigued. but not as much as what chemo does.

he didnt have radiation before his surgery?

Re: Is this a bowel obstruction? Advice please.

If your husband is having constipation issues i wouldn’t advise eating rice. I have had to significantly change my diet after my rectum resection, and only one colonoscopy in 5 years? For stage III that sounds a little too conservative. That being said a trip to the dr sounds like the right step to ...

Re: Colonoscopy prep: what works for me

When you don’t have a rectum, my colonoscopy prep is barbaric. There is maybe 3 second warning, and if you are not on the bowl, you are in trouble. I just had one last Friday. Was a good clean scope and obviously pleased with that, but that prep is medieval. I do the miralax, Gatorade, mag citrate c...

Re: Neuropathy - eye sight?

i devleoped cataracts. in both eyes. while not unheard of, it was pretty advanced for my age. dr said the chemo and probably the associated steroids we get, can accelerate cataract growth. i got the lens implant on both eyes, and that was the end of it. my vision is now better than it was before eve...
