Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

Hi Melissa :) It's uncanny how simialr our husband's journeys have been. We just had another CEA test this week and it came back at 12, still dropping He also just did treatment number 7 the first one without oxi and the difference has been fairly pronounced, no nausea at all, in fact his appetite i...

Re: Folfox.. ugh

For my husband the first 2 Folfox treatments were the worst and it has actually got better with further treatments With the first one he had extreme nausea and vomiting, and didn't eat solid food for about 4-5 days He had nausea with the second but no vomiting but he did begin to lose his hair and f...

Re: Painful swallowing during and after chemo

My husband started noticing that same sort of sensation after treatment 6 of Folfox He had difficulty swallowing and the feeling as if things were sticking in his esophagus which was worrying. He was actually experiencing a lot of side effects and feeling generally unwell after this 6th treatment bu...

Re: Four months in , scared, confused and overwhelmed about how to proceed

Hi ladies A little late to the paddle party, husband and I took a much needed break and went to the beach this week. He's off to his infusion right now, last CEA was down to 14, it was 114 pre surgery and aside from the chemo side effects he is still feeling pretty good. Like you also, our oncologis...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

LPL I Know exactly what you mean, my husband is intelligent and spends a huge amount of time online researching his interests and the latest technological advances but when it comes to his cancer he just doesn't want to know, or rather seems to be happy for me to be the one that researches like craz...

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

Thank you Debb and LPL that is good to know :)

It's odd but the one side effect my husband hasn't experienced is the cold sensitivity, no problems throughout the treatment handling cold things.

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Diane that is interesting, I will run that test by my husband later .

I know it's not unusual to drop the oxaliplatin before 12 rounds , I was just wondering/ hoping if it made much of a difference to how people felt without it in the mix?

Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

My husbands oncologist told us that if his next scan looks good he will remove the oxaliplatin from the mix and have him continue on with just the 5FU and avastin. He has so far done 6 full Folfox treatments , and would be looking at doing another 2 before potentially removing the ox While he has ma...

Re: Four months in , scared, confused and overwhelmed about how to proceed

Thank you again Julie, we will definitely be contacting MSK Mariane- yes we are in Atlanta , currently being treated at Piedmont , although not with Dr Ballard, but that is very useful to know of the MSK connection , thank you so much for bringing that to my attention. I suspect that I might have qu...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hello LPL, hello everyone You are correct my husband and inorganic's have a very similar situation. While it is comforting to find other people in the same situation , it saddens me just how prevalent this is becoming in younger people. This board has been a great comfort to me ever since my husband...
