Re: Question about Carbo Taxol versus 5FU as a Radiation sensitizer

Nik, what we were told was that the pump would be connected at the end of my first weekly infusion of the 5FU. Unlike before when I was on Folfox, this would be a slow, constant drip that would last seven days until my next weekly visit, at which time they would (I guess) refill the pump...so no nee...

Re: Question about Carbo Taxol versus 5FU as a Radiation sensitizer

Nik, I believe it is platinum based. That's why I'm concerned about going that route. I'm hoping there is someone on the board that might have experienced much lesser side effects at the lower dosages used with radiation than with the typical Folfox. That's my hope anyways. I have permanent neuropat...

Question about Carbo Taxol versus 5FU as a Radiation sensitizer

Hi all. My Onc has given me to two chemo options to use with my upcoming conventional radiation. As we all do, I hate the pump and would like to consider the weekly infusion of Carbo Taxol instead. So, here I am wondering if anyone has any experience using it instead of 5FU to sensitize the radiatio...

Re: Low WBC months after chemo stops

Same here. My last chemo was 13 months ago. My whites have seen ranged in the 3-4 range, currently 4.01. Lymphocytes have been chronically low, currently 1.0 with the highest reading 1.2 this past summer. Will be taking a Radiation sensitizing dose of 5FU soon. Hoping I won't need Neupogen to get me...

Re: Seizing body parts? Don't know what to call this.

I experienced the same reaction with my tongue, both hands, but also electric-like shocks radiating up the arm the IV was in during my first session. I immediately let the nurses and my doctor know. Thankfully it was close to the end of the infusion and all of the symptoms were gone within half an h...

Re: AP Window lymph node removed today!

I updated this in another post, but didn't address it directly. There was a misunderstanding regarding the post op conversation with my husband. He was told by the surgeon that "he got it all." Well, he got the node. There was still cancer present, so off I go in a few weeks to be radiated.

conventional radiation versus closer monitering. Updated.

Just when you think you have a grasp on what's going on, you find out you don't know what you don't know! I guess I just need to set the record straight and vent. I feel I've no right to complain. As I've said before, I've had it easy compared to so many here. But I just hate curve balls and blindsi...

Re: Rectal Cancer: Habr-Gama Watch and Wait Strategy to Avoid Surgery

I wish all of you the very best possible outcome. My advise is to always go with your gut. This needs to be your decision alone and then no looking back or second guessing yourselves later on. But just know, anything can happen. Compared to most CRC patients here, I've had a fairly easy go of it for...
