Re: Just got post-surgery results and they aren't good

It sounds like you are making a tough choice whether or not to go with Oxi. Having just completed 12 rounds of infusion FolFox + Bev my experience was it was tough but doable. In my case (stage IV with unresectable tumours) the possibility of increased survival benefit made it a no brainer. I can se...

Re: Parenting after surgery and during chemo

I have three boys who were 3, 5 and 7 when I had my surgery in December 2016. The littlest was 40 pounds and I couldn't pick him up for about 2-3 weeks. Only you can judge about picking up your child. If it feels like you are straining too much then take a week break and see. You can still cuddle an...

Re: Avastin vs zaltrap

Hi Missy, Sorry - I don't have experience with Zaltrap (ziv-aflibercept). From my limited knowledge, it doesn't have as wide use in second line treatment as the EGFR inhibitors Vectibix (panitumumab) and Erbitux (Cetuximab) for which many have good results. (EGFR inhibitors seem to have limited clin...

Re: New MSS-CRC Immunotherapy Trial: Erbitux+Keytruda

Grouseman. Sorry to hear about your wife's recent blockage. I hope things are getting better. This is an interesting trial to me as well. You mention ERRB pathways to get around EGFR inhibition. That interests me as I have ERRB4 mutation. Did the paper you read indicate having such a mutation would ...

Re: Please help- signet ring cell & two primary cancers! Rare & scared

What a horrible roller coaster to be on and I can't offer much. I am going to chime in and say that although I'm don't have Signet Ring Cell myself, I spent literally months reading every story on the internet after my diagnosis in December and joined the ColonTown facebook support group (I recommen...

Re: Clinical Trials here we come...hopefully

Hey flyboy, Sorry to hear about the progression. I don't have information on the Trials, but I wanted to mention there has been more recent research on High Dose IV vitamin C that shows it may be somewhat effective against KRAS mutation. This is something you can do through a naturopath clinic. You ...

Re: Surgery to remove lymph nodes

Hi There, I haven't had it done myself but if you use the search function you can find several posters here who have had surgery on infected nodes (not many still posting unfortunately). I have more extensive lymph node spread than you so our experiences will be different. After my resection by a Ge...

Tom, Glad to see you post. You don't know me but I am an avid 'back reader' of these boards and as a fellow Lymph node met's type I have read most of your posts. I'm sorry for the difficulty with seeing people pass on the boards, and I have to admit having watery eyes reading some posts from up to 1...

Re: The Box

If I read your signature correctly it sounds like your wife has had a really good response to FolFox + Avastin - if so that is great news.
Are you hoping for a surgery for the lung and colon ?
Maybe you could explain what the Dr's are suggesting going forward ?

Re: Sigmoid tumor & Para Aorta spread - Please help our little family -

Hi Sarah, Not sure why when I quoted your last post it ended up in my older thread, I must have had it open or something and I'm sorry as that may have been confusing. As to your question on diet and things you can do before treatment starts etc.from my research these are the conclusions I have come...

Re: Stg 4 para aortic and Iliac Lymph Nodes

Thanks Maia, I've read that one ! (I back read all the good stuff you post here) but I forgot to recommend reading your posts to Sarah for updates on trials and treatments. I will need a plan once I'm done the ol' FolFox (will probably be stopping Oxi after one more which is great but a little scary...

MOVED FROM : Stg 4 para aortic and Iliac Lymph Nodes

Hi all, Is surgery and option ? What about Biopsy etc?! We have not even met with an oncologist yet & no one seems to be contacting us! I spend most of my days on the phone trying to get help and someone to give us some answers ! It's like we have been told it's spread and that's that and we've...

Re: Need help with advise on Stage and CEA

I'm going to chime in on the CEA rise issue. Don't let that study scare you. CEA can fluctuate within one point quite easily and the study says >1 not =1 which may not seem important but it does not place you in the study group. You should get your CEA checked for a trend but at this time there is a...

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

My Oncologist said we will also stop Oxy at 8. I'm on 6 myself. I think this is common in stage 4 patients who aren't NED from surgery as the Oncologists are looking at long term chemo. Adjuvant chemo may be pushed for longer as there is hope for curative result.

Re: Lump

Commonly it is the left supraclav nodes that are from colon cancer as those nodes are connected to the abdomen. It can show up on the right but this is less common. That combined with the recent PET scan would mean you have a good chance of it not being cancer. However only a biopsy will tell you.
