Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

NCI/NIH has had my latest scan since Jan 29.
Just got a msg saying that the docs were evaluating my case today.
I should know tomorrow whether or not I'm eligible for the TIL trial.

Staining for the ESO, MESOTHELIN, and MAGE trials came back negative for all.

Hoping and praying that I get in!

Re: Oxaliplatin related neuropathy, cold and cold weather

My last oxaliplatin tx was in Mar 2014. Cold doesn't bother me anymore. My fingers are close to normal again--just a tiny bit of numbness at the very tips. My feet are another story. I have to wear hard-soled slippers or shoes wherever I go because they hurt. I don't notice the cold, but anything ot...

Re: what to do besides nap?

I just finished organizing 32,000 digital photos and backing them up to another computer. It was kind of bittersweet. My next plan is to make some photo books using shutterfly or some other site. I organized my recipes, too. This took over 3 months of working bit by bit. Now they're all printed and ...

Ovaries and Radiation

I had radiation tx that was focused solely on the suture line at the top of my bladder (the colon tumor had been adhered to my bladder). After one final menstrual cycle post-radiation, my periods ended and I began having night sweats and hot flashes. I assumed it was radiation-induced menopause, how...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

That's EXCITING! Congrats.

I'm still waiting to hear whether my nodes grew "enough" for them to re-consider me for the TIL trial. They were supposed to get my latest scan today so I'm hoping to hear soon.

Re: OT, I have a new name for my nodes

I gave mine individual names. The ones on the right are Casamina, Consuelo, Carmen, and Chaquita. On the left: Julio, Javier, Juan, Jorge, and newly discovered Jose. Naming them made it much easier to discuss the various CT and PET scans with my husband. Yes, they are all illegal aliens and I want t...

Re: Symptoms come and go?

My symptoms came and went. By the time I saw my GP to address it, I was already stage IIIc. Now I'm facing mets to lungs.
Find a doc who will find out what is going on. You are your best (some would say "only") advocate in your care.

Good luck.

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

Just got off the phone with NIH. The tumor they were planning to remove for the TIL study is the same one a previous surgeon already removed to prove metastasis. The NIH doc thinks the other tumors in my lungs are either too small, or not in a good location. I'm currently not on any meds, because my...

Re: Platelet Level

The range of normal that you saw online is for an average, healthy person.
All that flies out the window for someone on chemo.

Re: How did you react when you found out?

Stunned. I woke up to the doc holding a photo in front of my face and saying, "Mrs. R. you have a tumor. I'm 99% sure it's cancer. You have to get up and go see the surgeon right now." I said, "That's not what people want to hear when they wake up." (I refrained from adding, &quo...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

Congrats, Karin!
NCI wanted to test the original tumor for possible eligibility in 3 (4?) other trials before having me come out for the in-person screening and surgery. Only problem with that is that the University of Michigan is apparently holding my tumor hostage.

so annoying!

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

Thanks for consolidating all of that. I've got big hopes for success with this one.
Will keep the board posted as treatment progresses.
