Re: Xeloda Avastin Maintenance Plan

I've been on Xeloda/Avastin for almost 2 years. I never noticed much change in my CEA but that was never a good indicator for me. Even at Stage IV before my resection, my CEA was only 4. That said, during the first 6 months on Xeloda, my scans were showing slight progression. Both of my regulars onc...

Re: Prep for colonoscopy

Super easy. It tastes a little weird, so make it cold. If you don’t like the taste, squeeze some lime juice into your mouth before and after chugging it. For me it worked perfectly, and just as advertised. Followed the directions so got a solid night’s sleep before the procedure. Same here (except ...

Re: Covid and the non-believers

This is a colon cancer support forum, not the mask debate forum. I agree with Kim. While I also agree that this is a very relevant to cancer patients & caregivers on this forum, the post was made by a first-time poster about whom we know nothing. It seems suspiciously like someone looking to st...

Re: Interesting paper about fasting and vitamin C

But it feels like if I could get the diarrhea to stop, maybe I would have a better chance of eating more sooner post chemo. I don't know if this will be of any help or if you live in a medical marijuana state ... but when I was battling diarrhea and clustering in the early years after re-section su...

Re: Interesting paper about fasting and vitamin C

Couple of questions though: Your CRC had KRAS mutation, hadn't it? I have read this makes a difference regarding how cancer cells react to fasting, if they don´t have Kras mutation fasting might protect them. Second question: did your oncologies recommend or opossed the use of Vitamin C?... accordi...

Re: Interesting paper about fasting and vitamin C

I read somewhere that fasting helps "normal" cells protect themselves during chemotherapy. As a generarl rule is fasting recommended? If so, how do you do Short Term Starvation? 48hrs no food just before chemo? As I was taught by a naturopathic oncologist who is on my medical team that yo...

Re: Tea, and other warm beverages while on FOLFOX

I'm starting my 3rd round of FOLFOX today... I was looking towards tea, but I've read that some teas (rooibos, green, and white teas) may interfere with the treatment (makes it less effective). Other beverages seem to influence liver enzymes, so that's a concern too since I have a liver metastasis....

Re: Girlfriend wants to come to appointments

IF you want her there, then insist that she be allowed to join you at the appointment. It's reasonable - in this strange times - to say she can't join you for a chemo infusion but it's unreasonable for her to be excluded from doctor's appointments. It's in those appointments that you discuss what's ...

Re: All Chemo's have stopped working

Yes my mother had surgery done for her colon in 2009. Is surgery possible for her Lungs now given her age. Assuming she has good lung function and no other pre-existing conditions that might interfere with a successful surgery, being 63 shouldn't be an issue. As others have mentioned, she might hav...

Re: Time

I'm so sorry you're going through this Andrea but, like the others, I'm wondering if we're missing an important piece of information. Why do you think you're going to die? Cancer is not the death sentence it once was and Stage I is curable. It might be a tough 6 months but then you'll likely be done...
