Re: New & Scared - Any Guidance Appreciated

I was in similar circumstances 10 years ago. Based on that experience, my advice is: (1) don't panic, you don't need to make a decision today so chill and enjoy the holidays; and (2) make an appointment with a colorectal surgeon and let him/her review all the records from the colonoscopy and make a ...

Re: Last two chemos or covid booster?

My circumstances are very different in that I've been at this for 5 years and my mets are very slow growing. That said, when the boosters became available in August, I happened to have an appointment with my oncologist the day before chemo was scheduled and the day after boosters were available. I a...

Re: Folfiri Sessions

I hesitate to post this because I am so not an expert or anything close so please understand that this is based solely on my own experience. I think the bigger question might be whether after 4-6 months, the nodules are metabolically active. Maybe the next step would be to do a PET scan to make that...

Re: 3rd covid vaccine

I just had my booster at Walgreens because my oncologist felt strongly enough about me getting it that he suggested I postpone my chemo this week so that I could get the shot instead. I'm sure a lot went into his decision: my blood counts, my current response to chemo, etc. I'm more afraid of COVID,...

Re: Treatment For Multiple Lung Nodules In Europe?

Replied to your message. Have you seen the research and papers on this surgery? If not, let me know and I'll forward them. This surgery is not new; they've been doing it for over 20 years. NED is a possibility but I don't think you'll find any treatment that is guaranteed. That said, I think waiting...

Re: Chemo for Recurring lung Mets

I think it can vary depending on your personal circumstances: tolerance, mutations, etc. In my experience, the usual suspects are Folfox, 5FU alone, Folfiri, and Xeloda. There are others but I think those are the typical first-line treatments.

Re: People

The stories of friends and family disappearing after a cancer diagnosis are too many to count. That said, and just to offer a different perspective, it's my experience that this whole COVID-Delta thing has people rattled. I have family & friends who wouldn't hesitate to see me before but are now...

Re: Grieving my past life and no one understands

It's so easy to go down the rabbit hole, and it doesn't take much to start the process: a melody, a voice, a scent. I don't know if this will help any .. I often have to remind myself that if I spend too much time thinking about what could be or what was , I'll miss what I have right now. It may sou...

Re: Looking for help

As Nor Cal mentioned, ask at your father's cancer center. His oncologist should be able to tell you if the cancer center has a nurse navigator or social worker who helps to coordinate services when patients need assistance. Also ask if there is a palliative home care service. Sometimes it will be co...

Savvy Gig for former smokers: $2,500 fee

This is a new Savvy opportunity for former smokers who have been diagnosed with a smoking related illness. Cancer is one listed, and there is a link between smoking and colon cancer, but I don't know if colon cancer qualifies. Anyway, if you're interested, check it out. It pays $2,500. https://gigs....

Re: Normal or should we change doctors ?

I'm not a doctor, nurse, or any kind of medical professional and this is based solely on my own experiences. First, where is the tumor? I think a second opinion, preferably from a major cancer center and an oncologist who specializes in GI cancers, is ALWAYS a good idea. That may be a good place to ...

Re: 5-fu 200ml push - should I keep it?

I don't think you will get the same effect from CBD alone but all you probably need is a touch of THC. The way one person explained it to me was like this: think of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippin. All by themselves they are each superstars but put them together and the whole is greater than the s...
