Re: Today is my last day of Chemo!

Today is my last day of Chemo!

It has been a long six months, but in 2 hours I will take my last dose of Xeloda. :D :D :D I want to take this time to thank all of you on this forum who helped me through the side effects and helped get solutions to any problem. Without you, I wonder if I would have been able to finish. As I was th...

Re: Xeloda joint and muscle pain/arthritis

I have been on Xeloda since January 2nd, 3000 mg a day (3 pills in the morning and 3 pills in the evening). Yes, I do have some joint pain, especially after resting for a period of time of when I get out of bed first thing in the morning. In addition, I gained 10 pounds! My tongue has a burning feel...

Re: 5-FU cumulative side effects?

Hi, I'm new to this - just finished my 3rd treatment with 5-FU and Leucovorin. The first treatment was fine and my oncologist said how you react to the 1st one is usually how you react from that point on. I had mild nausea and fatigue but that was basically it. Second treatment about the same. Thir...

Re: NEWS from ongoing ASCO 2017: shorter chemo for stage III OK

This is awesome...I wonder if this will be used for Stage 2 colon cancer patients. Usually they follow Stage 3 protocol for Stage 2 that would benefit from chemo.

Re: Just got post-surgery results and they aren't good

Update: So, we met with husband's oncologist on Friday. As expected, she first recommended FOLFOX which husband was not very happy about. The idea of a port and pump terribly disturbs him. He asked if there were any alternatives and oncologist spoke about Xeloda. We then asked if one was medically ...

Re: Pump Or Pill???

I take the pill form of 5/FU and have no regrets. It fit my personality and lifestyle. No sitting for hours at a time. I do not know about this pill form, but I am sure that people in this forum will give you great advice.

Best Wishes

Re: New Member : Stage 2

Deb M, I got the chance to ask my doc yesterday about the information that is NOT on the report. He said that the pathologist told him verbally the information that is not on the report (LVI AND PNI). He said he thought the info was going to be added to the amended report but it's not. He said the ...

Re: Pills vs. Pump

I have stage IIIA colon cancer and am starting chemotherapy in 2 weeks. I am trying to decide between taking 5-FU via a pump (over 2 days every 2 weeks) or Capecitabine via pills (5 days a week). I'll have a port either way to get the Oxaliplatin. I saw two oncologists, one who recommended the 5-FU...

Re: Pills vs. Pump

Hi I am on the pill instead of IV 5/FU. If you take Oxi and the pill form of 5/FU, you do not need a port if you choose. I decided not to have a port and good thing I did! I had a reaction to the Oxi on the first infusion and the onc told me I can no longer take it. Many people do not make it all th...

Re: New Member : Stage 2

By saying "on section this mass extends through the wall into the surrounding fat (ouch lol) and approaches to within .6 cm of the closest serosal surface," it means it is outside the muscular layer, but did not go to the outmost layer, which is the serosal layer. Mine was .01cm to the clo...

Re: How long in hospital after surgery?

As I stated in an earlier post, I was discharged within 48 hours. He must be doing well for them to consider this. I had the same problem with urine....you are so dehydrated with the preoperative regime and surgery, but after drinking alot of liquid, my levels became normal. Also, they would not let...
