Re: someone to talk to

Maybe one thing might could help him a bit. Just letting him talk some about his thoughts and feelings. I'm the "Mom" in my situation...and I know when I try to talk a little about my situation with my daughter,...she goes totally silent, or tries to change the subject. I know that's becau...

LOL! I forgot about that. I took some bottled water one time (that I had put in the freezer for awhile). Won't do that again. "Shards of glass" feeling hit with a shock. Ugh.

Re: FOLFOX Prep List

Yes,...gloves are important! They keep the chemo room where I go ...like it's the North Pole or something. Get the hands drawing up into a claw-like shape. I also take bottled water (they also provide it there). It's so important to keep hydrated. And I take along my prescription anti-nausea meds (e...

Re: October Exercise Thread

Hey,... You guys sound so active!!! I guess I'm pretty active and exercising for me. That's because I'm a teeny tiny little 68 yo grandma (barely 4 foot 11 inches,...and about 115 lbs. I go on looooong walks as often as I can (mostly 5 and 6 mile walks). And do a lot with my two very active and hype...

Re: Exercise and recurrance risk

I have been following a fairly low carb diet for quite some time now. Can't tell you if it helps or not. Also been doing a LOT of walking for several years. Got colon cancer anyhow. To be fair,...I went for some years not taking care of myself at all,...and the cancer could actually have started the...

Re: Hard going back to the chair tomorrow...

I've gotten to where I actually WANT to go to "the chair". That's because I'm 6 treatments down,...and 6 more to go. Want to get it all done. But I still have those scary feelings about what new side effects I'm going to face when the treatment is over. I have to ride the bus home,..(and ...

Re: Black Humor

Little twist to BB's earlier joke.... Doc: I've got good news and I've got bad news for you. Patient: Well, crap, tell me the good news first. Doc: you have six months to live Patient: What???? What could the bad news possibly be?? Doc: I meant to tell that to you three months ago at your last appo...

Re: Trouble breathing with FolFox

I had a little trouble with the breathing thing, also. It wasn't too much at the time,....but since I had no clue what was happening, it scared me a bit. If it was like you described,....I'd be worried big time too! Glad your onc was on to the Oxy, and took action.

Re: Trouble breathing with FolFox

Julie, "So make sure you tell your Oncologist if it happens again." ...meh,..my ONC didn't seem very fazed when I related my experience. I had just finished my 5th round,...when the too cold air-conditioning in the chemo room made my hands draw up painfully into a "claw" positio...

Re: Hair today, gone tomorrow - also 4th ANNIV.

I'm just starting my 3rd round of Folfox (tomorrow). And my hair was already falling out by the handfuls. My wig came in (from "TLC"). So I just did the whole thing! Yup. I cut and shaved. Gosh it's so much cooler around the house. Anyhow,...the wig isn't rally the color I imagined from th...

Re: bald head

Starting on just my 3rd round of Folfox,.......and it already looks like I have a whole MOB of very shaggy, shedding dogs in my apartment (and I don't even own a dog). Stuff is coming out faster than my wig (I ordered from TLC) is getting here! Going to go get me a cap tomorrow,........... I look so...

Re: Cimetidine anyone know how many months / years to take ?

I have found that Wal-Mart has the generic version of Tagamet (Cimetidine) much cheaper than anywhere else I've looked. I didn't know about Cimetidine when I had my surgeries .....but you can bet that I am taking it "religiously" now, and will be for quite some time to come! If there is no...

Re: FOLFOX help

Hi All, I am at a loss, so this was what I happened to stumble upon, and hopefully I can get some answers from other people who are in the same boat.... My dad was disgnosed with stage III colon cancer, had the tumor removed and out of 15 lymph nodes, only one came back positive.... As I am sure ma...
