Re: oncologist walked out

I have a friend who is a doctor who left her practice and I learned alot from her experience. The doctors usually have contracts with their business partners that prohibit them from notifying the patients. If they leave a practice it is up to us as the patient to find the doctor because of these bus...

Re: Advice/ Experience Needed Husband Rectal cancer

NW Girl had radiation following surgery so you might want to check with her. There are a few on the forum in the situation of having radiation following surgery - either a situation where it was an emergency surgery or a situation where Radiation is standard treatment for many rectal cancers (stage ...

Re: Proton therapy for Lung Met?

Here is a link to the company that is developing the proton beam center here in Seattle. It is a joint venture between Procure and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA is the patient clinic side of the NCI comprehensive cancer center here - the UW/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center). This website ...

Re: Lab results in - still getting worse

Sorry to hear of the test results. Your post is one that I can imagine Gaelen responding to - I learned about the relevance of ALP from her - boy is she missed.... MSKCC sounds like a good option. I also know that they do the HAI pump at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance/UW/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Researc...

Re: Any diabetics on Xeloda?

One of the women going through chemo at the time I was used Xeloda and was diabetic. She didn't seem to have any different issues than normal. If she had not been diabetic she would have also had oxaliplatin but that was contraindicated because of the neuropathy.

Re: Hand and Foot - Xeloda - How quick to recover?

I didn't have the full peeling - just severe pain and redness. Mine usually recovered on the days off Xeloda and then resumed when I started the next cycle. I mention this because I basically had no recovery time related to hand/foot after the last cycle. A couple of tips I learned, if you haven't a...

Re: Chemo Questions ....Port Questions...

I can't use the nomogram (and it wasn't available when I was diagnosed) as I had rectal cancer.

I think it gives you questions to discuss with the doctors - your own as well as a second opinion doc.
