Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

MHF! Don’t be nervous, I know easier said than done. We do worry if their platelets are low and they can’t do treatment right away. 4 weeks is ok, he needs to have a little break so platelets can recover. Yes it sounds like FOLFIRI would be next, it’s kind of a waiting game for us too. I’m hoping th...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Thanks Robino and NHMike. Been thinking about you both. It is a tough process, and I admire you both for going through so much in your lives. Everyone here really is a hero. It is strange, he looks great on paper, but like I said before hopefully the meds will catch up with it. I’m glad his team is ...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Hi everyone, We had our follow up with oncologist yesterday. Bottom line is even though tumor markers dropped a lot, tests showed mixed bag. He looks good on paper, but the scans show new growth, stability in other areas. We will plug along for another month and if he still doesn’t show improvement,...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

I’m glad you’re doing well Robino! No, they don’t do CEA every time, at least that’s been our experience, and quite frankly it’s good if they do it monthly or every other month. He’s on a clinical trial so they will check probably 4-6 weeks. As for heart, they won’t leave me alone. Another echo to s...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

MHF waiting is the worst. And the checking of patient portal. Why did he send an email like that with no follow up? Ugh! If anything maybe he’s changing treatment? I hope you were able to sleep somewhat, but I know that’s difficult after your doc pulled that one. I would address with doc about what ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

LPL thank you for your encouragement. ALL of the men and women going through this have my heart. I started the BRAF thread hoping to help others see that this really is a good phase III trial for this subtype, and even if he’s struggling with it, there are many showing stable or regression. Treatmen...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Lena thank you. I hope hubby’s scan on the 18th shows regression! It is a rollercoaster with the tumor markers, I know. But scans can tell what’s going on. Sending love and hope, Mrs Z

Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

My husband has had several scans he has lung nodules too, but they felt it was an inflammatory process as opposed to any metastasis. It can happen, they haven’t changed and the guess is he had pneumonia a while back, or maybe from chemo? Dunno but the docs don’t seem concerned and he gets scans ever...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

MHF I’m hoping for encouraging scans for hubby. Yes, it never hurts to ask for a reduction in dosage if they feel efficacy will be good and the symptoms are intolerable on it. Sometimes they start high see what is tolerated and then lower if they have to. There has to be a balance. All my love to yo...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

I wish I could hug you too Robino! Virtual hugs to you! We will definitely discuss when we see her again, and i’ll Ask if bisphosphanate would be appropriate for bone lesions. I know they use it for breast cancer to bone lesions and it helps not only strengthen and heal but against lesions as well. ...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

He is helping by being on this trial as is others. It is promising for a lot of people and hopefully will be standard of care along with BRAF, KRAS testing so that people in the future will be treated at earlier stages. This is my hope and it’s coming! Hang on people there are great things coming do...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Mr Ziggy’s brain scan report is up. It says several nodules in left orbit tissue, which they told me. Brain is fine. However several lesions in cervical spine now and base of skull. Not treatment related, they are osseous lesions. He is vomiting more easily now, sleeping A LOT. Starting with some di...

Re: any peeps with BRAF mutation on here?

Ok I’ll keep the appointment. Got to look at the caregiver links o stoma Mia sent. My family has had a rough ride since 2008 and unfortunately I’m the caregiver for mom, brother, and now hubby. Won’t get into boring details here, but it all hit the fan one year out from Breast cancer, chemo, mastect...
