A life and a death

So the results of my husband's scans came back this morning and we are grateful to God and humbled to share that he remains cancer free nearly 3 years out. I share to offer hope to those in the trenches, especially to the spouses seeking answers on this site. Cancer, however, remains an uninvited an...

My brother in law was denied Keytruda by Highmark for his Stage IV lung cancer. With Maia's helpful reply to my plea for advice, his wife was able to work with Merk and they are giving him the Keytruda for free (Compassionate Care). I don't know how to link back to the initial thread, but your oncol...

Re: BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

My condolences to the family. Eric was always kind and informative in replying to forum members. There will be a void here not easily replaced with his passing. I once told my husband "there's a guy on my cancer forum who has had over 100 chemos" and his eyes bugged out of his head. You we...

Does anyone on here self pay for Keytruda?

So my DH brother was dx with stage iv lung cancer last Dec. (non small cell adenocarcinoma). He was 42, same age as my husband at dx. Carboplatin worked great at first, shrinking the largest tumor in half, only to grow back, with new growth, as soon as chemo ended. A trip to Sloan Kettering in NYC p...

Re: 38 yr old wants colonoscopy, doctor declined

I am a 39 year old mom of 6. Within the past 2 months, my hemorrhoids became so irritated that I had an episode where I was sitting on the floor and I bled through to the carpet. Due to my husband's history and knowing that is a possible sign of cancer, I called a gastroenterologist the next day, si...

Good scan results 2.5 years out

Hello everyone. Just want to report that my husband received good scan results from his oncologist yesterday on what was (according to Twitter) National Young Colon Cancer Survivor Day (#Never2Young). He has now been cancer free for nearly 2.5 years. Scans were taken last week and I forced myself to...

Re: Hemorrhoid banding, my experience

Hi Sams wife!!!! Scope is May 3 at 3:40, not happy about the time but that's the closest they had. I'm glad dr ordered the scope but I'm not expecting him to find anything (famous last words!) And the pain from the banding disappeared after 24 hours. Hope all is well.

Hemorrhoid banding, my experience

A rectal bleeding episode 2 weeks ago led me to my 1st GI apt yesterday. I had a bad diarrhea episode at 4 AM (which I'm attributing to eating too much melon) then at 8 PM that night, while sitting on the floor playing with my kids, I felt a very wet feeling in my pants. I had bleed through my under...

Re: Question about ground glass opicity and update on CT

Many scans in before the radiologist used the term "ground glass nodule" to describe the approximately 6 mm nodule in DH lung. Neither the oncologist nor the surgeon ever expressed concern about it, other than "we will keep an eye on it" and DH was permitted to have his port remo...

considering vasectomy...will it affect pelvic scans?

After 6 kids, 1 pre cancer accident that left DH with many broken bone and lingering pain, then the big C with all the long term side effects from chemo, our ages (44 and 39) and the risk of birth defects from the chemo, plus my ability to care for another child should his cancer return (I was pregn...
