I take 50,000 1x/week. I haven't had my level checked in a while. Probably time to request that.

Re: Side effects calf cramping and painfully tight

Ugh, sorry you're experiencing this.

I had muscle cramps- especially in my calves- on folfox. I remember it being awful walking down stairs. My hands camped up too. The muscle cramping was the main reason I turned to marijuana. It helped me a lot.

Re: Stage 4 Survival stories

When I was first diagnosed, I looked all over for stories of stage 4 long-term survivors. The ones I found I kept in my head- those who were NED and those who were doing fairly well and were stable on chemo. I think it's natural to look for concrete examples that give you hope. That first year, canc...

Re: Life Insurance Question

I have a term policy where I didn't have this provision added to it. Though I did have a brochure which explained this benefit. If I read it correctly...you can receive this benefit once a doctor states you are terminal with less then a year to live but if you live past the 12 months. They will beg...

Interesting. I love coffee. I drink it throughout the day- definitely four cups (or more).

Re: Life Insurance Question

I did a Viatical settlement with my 20-year term policy. I initially got the policy in my early 30s. I took a chance that I would outlive the term and accepted 60% of the payout. It was sold to a fund- now they are the beneficiary. I don't think I would've done it if I didn't have other life insuran...

Re: Checking in.....STILL here, question for NED'ers

One of my relatives recently said to me "Why are you still thinking about cancer??" I'm 2 years NED. Physically I have a lot of joint pain and some neuropathy, but I'm dealing with that. And of course I worry about it coming back. I'm having a PET scan soon to see about an area of low atte...

"Hostile abdomen" club

This past Thursday I woke up at 2AM with severe abdominal pain. My husband wanted to call for an ambulance, but we wound up driving to the local hospital instead. I really thought it would turn out to be a bad case of gas, or something else that wasn't too serious. Well, it turned out to be a closed...

Re: Ready to quit :(

I'm so sorry to hear about the difficult side effects. A word about foot pain, cramping, etc.--I had that side effect from the oxaliplatin. It was AWFUL to step down onto my feet, especially when going down stairs for some reason. I can't say enough good things about marijuana for that side effect, ...

Re: New careers after cancer

I worked at a job I loved and worked about two-thirds of the way through chemo, until I started having seizures that affected my cognitive abilities. My job was as a director at a company that produces a very prominent test. I worked on the critical reading section of that test. I had cognitive test...

The plan is to continue on this program for another three years as long as I'm still NED. After that, no more chemo or Celebrex.

Thanks, everyone. :D

Two years NED stage 4

Two years ago today I had a liver resection to remove what was originally thought to be a benign hemangioma but turned out to be a colon cancer met. I've been NED since then. I'm currently on 2000 mg Xeloda and 400 mg Celebrex per day. I was diagnosed in 5/13. I was a mucinous mutant. My pri...

I think about that mom sometimes! I do wonder what happened with her daughter. I wish she would have posted again. I remember that someone here sent her a PM but didn't get a response.
