Re: Supplements to Take

Probably the most frequently mentioned integrative sources by professionals that I've seen on the boards are "Natural Strategies For Cancer Patients" (9780758202215) by Russell Blaylock, "Beating Cancer With Nutrition - Revised" (0963837281) by Patrick Quillin, "Life Over C...

Re: Cured ?

........ Will that be my 5 year mark and am I "cured"? I tend not to use that word because cancer can come back at any time - granted the longer out you are the less likely it is BUT...... To me the word 'cure' means I don't worry about cancer anymore, that I won't think about it anymore,...

Re: Subscribe to a thread?

Here's one that took me a long time to figure out.... If you click on this symbol next to the circle: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_topic_newest.gif it will take you to the first unread post in the thread. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figur...

Re: Subscribe to a thread?

Right, subscribing will give you an email notification when there is a new post. I think bookmarking allows you to list the bookmarks in your User CP, but you don't get the notification.

Re: For GUESTS who don't have Colon Cancer...

If the intent is to limit to patients and their caregivers, then I think this is the best version yet. I share the concerns expressed by Patience at the end too. If the intent is to limit the forum to just those who have already diagnosed, then perhaps this is a gentler yet useful way to disuade tho...

Re: stage 1 to stage 4

Dad went from Stage I to Stage IV in a matter of months if I recall correctly. It really sucks. His mets though were to the liver and more easily dealt with than the lung.

Do take care, and I also highly encourage counseling and support groups.

Re: Was anyone misdiagnosed ? And if so what happened ?

....My outlook on the way doctors approach their work was changed by reading Atul Gawande's recent article in the New Yorker. He was basically musing about whether having a coach would help a doctor improve, even after he'd been practicing for many years. Gawande himself acknowledged that while his...

Re: Was anyone misdiagnosed ? And if so what happened ?

...It's not negligence or malice, it's more a failure of imagination, a failure to think outside the box and wonder if it might be something more than what it is expected to be. But what triggers a doctor to think, "I should look at this from another angle." I like the way you put this :)...

Re: Was anyone misdiagnosed ? And if so what happened ?

Dad had his colectomy, no nodes, they said they got everything. Several weeks later he was in for an obstruction. What they didn't tell him was that a scan at that time showed a met to the liver. He started chemo delayed, about 10 months later because of that, with two much larger mets. He only foun...

Oh my gosh, I would be concerned with the glucose powder. I've pm'ed you the link! Warning, some of it is technical, I haven't read it all, but I hope there is enough in there to help you.

Re: Another study fructose and cancer spread

....the relationship of sugars to cancer still seems to be controversal among oncologists. .... At Dad's first "cancer class", the woman running it even laughed at people that said that sugar feeds cancer....there was evidence of this back then, and the evidence continues to build. From t...
