Re: My DH is gone

I am so sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself. I have discovered that it is easier to try and take one day at a time and not look too far into the future. There is a web site called Daily Strength for widows and widowers. I have not posted (can't figure out how to join) but often go there and rea...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Val, You mirror many of my feelings. I am so sad for all of the broken dreams of the two of us growing old together...loving and supporting each other. I ache for my children losing their father at such young ages. As young adults trying to find their way in this world, they could sure use their fat...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Val,

I would like to add that losing a spouse or parent at a young age goes against the natural order of things also.

Vicki,

The picture that you posted of the diamond in the bezel setting is exactly like mine except that my band is thinner. My bezel setting is white gold and the band is gold. Thanks for posting it .

Re: How to prevent colon cancer?

My late husband could be the poster child for the reason that you should get a colonoscopy at age 50. He was diagnosed at age 52 (stage IV) He had a lot of work related issues during that time of his life and put it off. Had he not, I probably would never have heard of this website.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

SMR, I had decided early on that I wanted to wear my engagement and wedding rings for at least a year. I have never been much of a jewelry person except for a watch and small earrings. When Dennis and I became engaged, even though I told him that a plain gold wedding band is all that I wanted, he in...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

MY DH has been gone for a year as of January 4th. Still miss him every day. Although, it is only temporary, for another year or so my oldest daughter (23) is living with me while she applies to medical school. It is so great having her here with me and I dread the day she leaves. Hard to imagine liv...

Re: Alkalized water. (DONT FLAME ME!!)

You are free to believe and do whatever you want. However, my thoughts are that if there is a chance for you to beat this cancer, you need to follow up with the treatment that your doctor recommends. Your oncologists sees cancer patients every day, spends lots of time studying, going to conferences,...

Re: And there goes the hair

Before you shave your head consider this. When my DH went on Folfiri he lost most of his body hair which he alway had plenty of. The hair on his head got considerably thinner and he was contemplating shaving it all off. Instead, he just had it cut short. We were glad that he decided not shave it bec...

Re: Can my husband survive numerous lung mets?

The doctor would be the best one to answer that question because he is familiar with your DH's particular case. All I can tell you is my DH was stage IV at diagnosis. Because of that the oncologist said that it was best to start chemo right away rather then doing surgery as the primary tumor in the ...

Re: In the BLINK of an EYE- ***UPDATE***

Vicki, My thoughts are with you and your family. I lost my DH one year ago today. I have been following your posts and have to tell you how much I admire the care and devotion you gave to Mike. The love was so evident. The only advice that I can give is to take it one day at a time.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Today marks the one year anniversary of my dear husband, Dennis' death. The weather outside sort of mirrors my feelings. It is an overcast and dreary day. Our son is not here, but all four of our daughters are home. They wanted to go to breakfast at Denny's and so we did. Dennis would have liked tha...

Swinging chickens for your DH. I was just reading some of your posts on this thread. Oh my gosh what a grueling scedule you guys are having to endure. When we were looking into a clinical trisl for my DH, I was freaking out about having to drive in Charlotte, NC traffic and I don't think we would ha...

Re: Don't get mad at me, please

I can so understand your anxiety. I am a worrier. I know it is silly but somehow deep down inside I feel that by worrying it will prevent bad things from happening. I have to consciously try to over ride that and ALLOW myself to not worry. We tend to lose today worrying about tomorrow. Right now is ...
