Re: Chemo and neck pain

Yes I definitely had neck pain, clavicle pain, rib pain, and jaw pain. I'm on 5FU. This stuff causes all kinds of little different pains. Massage helps me & so does heating pads.

Mental Breakdown Today

Well I went in for my 6th chemo treatment today & literally had a breakdown in front of my oncologist. I told him I didn't think I could do this anymore and if nothing else I need a break. I'm finding myself anxious, depressed, & physically drained & sick. He hugged me and told me to tak...

Re: FOLFOX Treatment Diary

Yep this is the right place & it's good to share your experience in detail for newbies. We know more about the experience better than the nurses or doctors anyway. Unfortunately, for me treatment did get worse as far as side affects go. I also, find it harder & harder to drive to chemo every...

Re: From the top of the Mountain to the bottom

Nik- I made my husband go and get lottery tickets last week which we normally don't play. I told him, if I can get colon cancer at age 36 without a family history, then I think winning the lottery is possible (weird comparison, I know)! Hopefully they will end up approving your disability. My claim ...

Re: to quit oxaliplatin or not?

I did my 3rd treatment today. This is my first treatment without oxaliplatin so it will be interesting to see how I feel. I was having terrible neuropathy, chest & stomach pain starting day 1. I kept reading how after 12 rounds people had permanent issues & I just knew that was going to be m...

Re: Scared Newbie

All the doctors talk about is nausea, vomiting, fatigue, mouth sores & diaharrea. And while I have experienced these things they aren't concerning. What scares me is the jaw pain, neck pain, stomach pain, neuropathy, chest pain, light-headedness, anxiety & shoulder pain. Am I the only one? ...

Re: Scared Newbie

If you click my link in my sig about my ongoing tx, my first couple posts are about folfox. Yes, most these things are normal, but if too bad, tell onc, you may need to reduce oxi or switch, most likely to folfiri. Best wishes. It can be very scary, I know. Thanks for the response Nik. I think it's...

Re: Scared Newbie

Teresa, Anxiety is very common. Many of us, including myself, are on anti-anxiety pills. Try some xanax or ativan. Chest pain can be a concern. The 5 FU can cause cardiac issues. Really talk to onc about this. Muscle spasms are common to oxaliplatin. Personally, I had the spasms, but not pain. Talk...

Scared Newbie

I've been reading all of your posts for a couple of months & finally joined the club. Reading all of your posts has helped answer so many of my questions. Needless to say I'm scared out of my mind. Everything has happened so fast from getting diagnosed, RT hemi-colectomy surgery, port surgery, &...

Re: Survey on bad habits

Nik- I'm new to Colon Club & I wondered the same thing. I just turned 37 and wonder if my drinking and smoking caused my colon cancer. I have cut down to 2-3 cigarettes a day since I was diagnosed, but it's just too hard to quit completely right now. I have quit drinking mostly. I now maybe have...
