Re: A Difficult Year

Not fair.
You poor, poor dear. So sorry.
I hope that you can continue to look for tiny moments of beauty -- and find your daughter among them.

Re: CT Scan Just came in Liver Met (one)

I did 12 cycles of it -- 24 weeks. Was lucky enough to have a body that tolerated it well, and never had any postponements. Soccermom did a fabulous job describing -- I second what she says about fluid intake. I would drink heavily the day before my infusion. (Not how it sounds. No booze. Tee hee.) ...

Re: interesting case study - my sister and me

Yup, interesting, indeed! I am an identical twin, and she is all clear (phew). Similar diet, same upbringing/exposures, etc. I got Crohn's Disease in 1997, and she never did. Doctors are not sure it was the cause of my cancer, but seems awfully likely.

Re: oxaliplatin side effects - 9 years after treatment

I'm trying to figure out if my back pain issues are Folfox-related. 2 1/2 months out after chemo. I do have tingly hands and especially feet but have gotten used to it. My onc was really good about closely monitoring my oxali dosage. I did 6 full Folfox treatments, no oxali for #7, reduced for #8, n...

Re: All Lung Nodule Experiences

I love this post. I am 2 1/2 months post-chemo. Had a CT scan at the halfway mark (in June) and one last week (five months from the last). Doc said the 7mm nodule has grown since the last scan. He couldn't notice but radiologist did. Said it's now 8 or 9mm. Still too small to biopsy, but my next CT ...

After-Chemo NOT "walking on sunshine"

Hi Guys, Boy, I'm 5-weeks done with my 12-rounds of Folfox, and my emotions are all over the place. I guess I'm "processing" now that I'm no longer focused on treatment/surgery/getting through chemo. So glad to be done with infusions, but I am struggling with the uncertainty of life and ne...

Re: Port Removal -- ASAP or wait for first scan?

Hi All, Again -- really appreciate everyone's input. Wanted to update that I did end up having it removed about a week after chemo-end -- and have NO regrets about it. Had to agree with the feeling that if it should recur, getting the port put back in will be the easiest of my battles. It feels so g...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Hi Menreeq, I am in Northern California, too. (My profile name is meant to be California Girl, not "Cancer Girl.) Berkeley. You? My girls were 3 and 6 when I was diagnosed in February. I finished chemo about a month ago (Yippee!) I am reposting part of my response a while back, though editing s...

Re: Port Removal -- ASAP or wait for first scan?

Most excellent and thoughtful responses. Thank you, Guys. As I figured, there'd be support for both sides. And all good points, at that. Kara, you're right, either way, the decision will be fine. I did appreciate that you didn't regret having to get it put back in, after the pleasure of being withou...

Port Removal -- ASAP or wait for first scan?

Hey All, I had a CT scan after my first 6 Folfox cycles. No changes in tiny liver and lung nodules. I'm getting my final (12th) infusion right now, and my onc wants to wait 3 more months, so it'll be six months since my last scan. Since I'm only 46, and have already had 2 scans, he wants to limit th...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

The port now looks like a little bump in my chest, and there's a tube attached under the skin that... goes into a vein in the neck? That's my laywoman's explanation. I go in on a Monday for my infusion of Oxaliplatin and Leucovorin (first is a chemo drug; second is like vitamins to help you absorb t...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Sorry, didn't realize your kids were so "old." I agree -- let them know not all cancers are the same, even though it's all the "C" word. Same for chemo treatments. I plan to title this stage of my life "You Look Great!" based on how many times I've heard this from peopl...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I felt the same way in mid-February of this year. Being a mother tends to shift your focus a bit. I was so sad about the possibility that they would be motherless. I remember the first weekend after my colonoscopy, I felt like I was caught in a big wave and couldn't get out. This forum seems to stee...

Re: Hi, I'm new here, but apparently my cancer is not!

Hi, This is my first activity on here, though I've been reading since my diagnosis in Feb. Thank you, All! Kristaloo, I was inspired to finally register and post a response, since I also have been dealing with young kids. Though it's way different for a 6-year-old than 3-year-old, my methods worked ...
