Re: Dr. Neyla Melnetchouk surgeon at Brigham and Women's

She's going to do mine late October. I finished my Chemo and Radiation last week and will have an MRI in early October and a meeting a few days later. It looks like she is well-qualified to do the type of surgery you need: http://www.brighamandwomensfaulkner.org/about-us/general-information/bwfh-ne...

Re: Meeting with liver surgeon tomorrow

It's the standard dosage depending on where you look. NCCN guidelines say 130, other places 85. I think the standard oxaliplatin dosage for Xelox/capeox is 130 mg/m2. The standard oxaliplatin dosage under FOLFOX is 85mg/m2, however. The difference is due to the different cycle length for the two pr...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Can someone explain what CEA level is? CEA is a tumor marker for colorectal cancer (and for some other cancers as well) and is sometimes (but not always) elevated at the time of diagnosis, It is worthwhile to test for CEA level at diagnosis because if it is in fact elevated at diagnosis it might me...

Re: HAI pump treatment in the US besides MSKCC?

I have googled but I can't find anything that does the HAI pump in the Detroit area. I would like to find one around there since I have family I could stay with in that area. Are there any around Detroit or even Ann Arbor? Dr William D Ensminger in Ann Arbor did some HAI work back in 2002. He might...

... I believe there's a cancer center in California that does too. Maybe someone will chime in with the name... ... What has been everyone's experience? ... My experience was that my rectal tumor was causing a blockage, so there was no time to consider 5 weeks of pre-surgery chemo/radiation. I had emergency surgery the same week, performed by a Board Certified colorectal surgeon. In.your meeting today, be su...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

My life seems to back to full-blown busy mode. I got up early yesterday and worked out for 45 minutes and felt great. 15 minutes of Yoga-type stuff (stretching and abs), then 60 minutes of dumbbell and barbell and bodyweight training and a 1-mile run. I got my heartrate up to 172 (just as a test) a...

Re: 24yo female, 5-6 precancerous polyps

Next colonoscopy is scheduled for a years time, is that risky seeing as he left a polyp in there? Thanks! I think that the issue of follow-up colonoscopy scheduling is a complicated one, since the decision depends on a number of factors, such as the histological type of polyps found, the shape of th...

Re: Chemo/radiation AFTER resection

If you look at the NCCN recommendations for Stage II rectal cancer, I don't think you'll find any reference to radiation-only adjuvant treatment: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57826&p=455361#p455361 I think you need to clarify this with your oncologist. Chemo/ra...
