Hello and sorry that we are all here. My dad’s latest CT scan showed 5 to 6 tiny spots in the lungs. His oncologist said that if there were fewer spots, he would suggest surgery, but with this number of spots, he’s recommending mild chemo instead. He said that we pursued aggressive treatment after t...
I am so sorry about your husband's passing. His last moments sound so peaceful, with you by his side and Tom Waits singing in the background. The love you have for Mike shows abundantly in your writing. Peace and comfort to you.
Another vote for surgery first then chemo. If the liver met was huge or in an inoperable location, it'd make sense to do chemo first. That, however, is not the case with your father. If the surgeon agrees with the onc about doing chemo first, I would seek for a second opinion elsewhere. Good luck, Sue
I'm glad you feel well and that your ribs are healing. I'm not an expert by any means in this area, but I wonder if ADAPT might be an option worth looking into. Best wishes to you.
How awesome that you have no lymph node involvement! Very happy for you. My dad also had a wound infection after surgery, but antibiotics took care of it. Best wishes to you as you heal.
Unfortunately I didn't get to know Gwen, but it's clear what an important presence she had on this board. My sincere condolences to her family and others who loved her.
I’m grateful for my dad’s oncologist who called us after 6pm on a Friday to let us know that Dad’s CEA is back down to 3.6. It was 12.1 before ablation. I thank him for sharing the good news so that we can enjoy the weekend.
Since I'm hoping you'll post photos, it's only fair for me to post one. Maybe others will join me. Here's one of Canyonlands (Island in the Sky) taken from my iPhone!
Hi Rob, I’ve really enjoyed this thread. As an avid hiker and enthusiast of national and state parks, may I say that establishing the National Park Service is one of the best things that the U.S. government has ever done. Not to brag or anything :) , but I have fond memories of visiting every place ...
It is very likely that your mom will be receiving folinic acid, aka leucovorin, and your onc just didn't mention it because it isn't considered a chemo drug. Rather, it is an agent that enhances the effectiveness of 5-fu. Easy solution to your question is to confirm with the onc that leucovorin will...
Such lovely sentiment, Walt. Thank you for taking the time to show your appreciation for this board during what must be a truly difficult time for you. You expressed so beautifully how I -- and I suspect many others -- feel about this special community. Thank you.
