Re: Cancer growing through scar?

After re-opening not long after resection, my wound took weeks to get fully closed and under control. Your nurses and doctors will help you through this. It's natural to find it alarming. Best wishes

Re: Ten years after Stage III diagnosis

Congratulations on your cure and renewed life!

Also thank you so much for posting - I also had a T4 (N1) tumour which invaded my small intestine and stomach. Our cases are pretty rare, so I love reading positive outcomes for people who have shared a similar diagnosis.

:D

I am deeply sorry to hear of your father's passing. All I can say is that he will have cherished every moment you spent together, and deeply appreciated having you in his life. Peace and thoughts for you in your time of mourning.

Re: Random dull side pain

I've had intermittent and varying-location right hand side pain ever since my op, and my surgeon is never concerned about it. He's always attributed the pains to scar tissue, hernia repair, or over-exercise and quoted his physical examination (pulpation etc), clear scope, unalarming bloods, and clea...

Re: It came to me this afternoon....I hate--SAD UPDATE

The suffer train finally won on the 10th. He gave it all he had. I was fortunate enough to be in bed with him and hold him while he quietly took his last breath. Most of you don't know me but I follow you...thinking of all of you I'm truly sorry for your loss and I am glad you had a peaceful final ...

4.9 for 7 months and counting here. Surgeon said he wasn't interested in my cea unless it climbs consistently. Non smoking and under 40. Guess I'm just odd

Re: CEA still elevated but no change; thoughts?

Saw my surgeon yesterday and he reviewed my bloods and examined me before very flippantly announcing: "you look fine, your tests are fine, I believe you will remain fine. The pain is possibly scar tissue but almost certainly from your hernia mesh due to excessive exercise. Stop lifting weights,...

Re: Stopping treatment...

I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's news, Willow. I can't really say anything other than to cherish and prioritise your time with him, as I know you will. Don't leave anything unsaid. I'll be thinking of you both.

Re: CEA still elevated but no change; thoughts?

Thank you all for the replies. I still am in daily fluctuating pain, particularly around meals, but it's not unbearable. I'm not a smoker but I was a heavy tobacco and marijuana smoker until 10 years ago, if that makes a difference. I do drink more than I should. Jacques that is a very good point ab...

Re: Carcinogens

I believe the positives of a few drinks strongly outweigh the negatives. This study of 1500 colon cancer patients suggests fish and exercise are the only lifestyle factors which strongly bear upon recurrence rates: https://consumer.healthday.com/cancer-information-5/colon-cancer-news-96/fish-exercis...

RIP beautiful Cherie :(

Gutted to inform that Cherie's husband today posted of her passing. Cherie was a devoted wife, loving mother and the closest "virtual" friend I've ever had. She was tough as nails and so supportive to me during my treatment, which followed hers by approximately 6 months in near-identical c...

Re: CEA still elevated but no change; thoughts?

When I first read your post, I read it that your CEA had increased from 0.7 to 4.9  But I soon realised that it has increased by 0.7. No, I do not think that it is anything to worry about, especially as it has remained the same in five months. Breathe easy Jay..... :) Yeah sorry - I edited i...
