ER sent hubs home with a fistula & did not tell him he has it!!

I am incredibly angry & freaked out at the moment!! Shortish back story: husband diagnosed stage iv, also including a fistula between bowel & bladder. Fairly frequent uti's now, though the fistula is connected to the lower colon, below the colostomy. He was running a fever this past week &am...

Re: Getting used by a doctor

I am so sorry. As someone who lost a loved one to suicide, I ask you to please, please, PLEASE not go that route. Try to find a therapist you like - it can take time. I would also suggest a colostomy; my husband has one, and there are actually times when it has probably been better for him - c diff ...

Re: New to forum, rectal cancer, must make surgery choice -- help!

Hopefully someone else who is wiser than I will chime in as well, but whichever route you take, start taking cimetidine before surgery & continue after...in some cases, helps prevent metastasis.
I wish you well.

Re: decreased urine output

I think that decreased urine output warrants a call/visit to the doctor asap.

Re: Folfiri decrease

My husband just had his first reduced Folfiri this week. They dropped the 5fu bolus & the leucovorin. This was either treatment 9 or 10. He has been a little more nauseated this time; waiting to see if the pain that caused them to adjust it returns.

Re: Anyone with inoperable primary tumor?

Thank you, rp1954. I appreciate your input & that you are so willing to advise. Ritz75, the surgeons said the tumor was too extensive & too involved with the bladder/peritoneum; that it would have been a huge surgery & they would not have been able to get it all, so it just would have co...

Anyone with inoperable primary tumor?

My husband is inoperable/nonresectable & was at diagnosis. It's hard to find info online about this, as most articles assume patients are able to have their tumors surgically removed. Not really sure what I'm looking for...commiseration? Any hope at all? His oncologist is not very forthcoming wi...
