Re: I need to vent

I got a urinary tract infection (thanks, menopause  ) yesterday and am on a 3 day course of Bactrim antibiotics. I just started my 2nd day of the pills and my gut is rebelling, I've been in the bathroom repeatedly with diarrhea. I know I didn't have any real alternatives to antibiotics for th...

Re: Question- how do you count years of survival?

My oncologist from MDA is using the surgery date as the beginning of my 5 year countdown. Surgery was November 2016. Even though I finished chemo in June of 2017, he has me at the end of 3 years NED as November 2019.

Re: It’s that time again - CEA check

You are not alone...CEA testing is my nemesis! It has never been stable since post surgery. I tried everything...from diet, exercise and yoga. The last rise, my cea went from 2.5 to 3.1. Even though my onc was not concerned, I was. I went on a plant based diet over the summer and found out that I ha...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

Wow, thanks Robster. That helps a lot. All was familiar so I know others here have given me the same info just not all in once place. Poorly differentiated cancer cells (also known as ‘high grade’ or ‘grade 3’ cells) is considered a high risk factor, which may explain why oxaliplatin is being offer...

Re: Surgery Pathology Report

I was on Xeloda for 6 months for stage 2A. 3,000mg per day. Three 500 mg tablets in the morning and three 500 mg tablets in after dinner. It was based on my weight back than, which I was 152 pounds and 5'2".

Re: Adjuvant chemo or not / Decision time for adjuvant chemo

That was my point....I think it is the OXI that is the problem....not the Xeloda. I'm surprised that the onc didn't suggest just doing the Xeloda or 5FU. I agree with you! My onc did start me on Xelox, because of my age and 2 high risk features, but I could not take the oxi. In Xelox vs Folfox, the...

Re: Adjuvant chemo or not / Decision time for adjuvant chemo

I was on Xeloda because of LVI for 6 months. Like you, I would have kicked myself for not doing everything possible to make sure it never came back. It was quite doable. I was retired but still was able to work part time. I started with 3000mg per day (1500 in the morning and 1500 at night) for 2 we...

Re: Adjuvant chemo or not

In early July I was DX with Appendicitis and received emergency appendectomy. Pathology revealed T3 intermediate to high grade grade cancer, perennial invasion, and lymphatic invasion. CT scans were negative and R hemicolectomy was negative. My stage now is 2A. My oncologist uses colon cancer as th...

Re: Hand Foot Syndrome

Xeloda has been discussed on this forum...hopefully this will help answer some of your questions... I was on it for 6 months and developed H/F after the 3rd cycle. Dark hands and feet, sore and peeling skin. Xeloda dries out the skin and the saliva in your mouth. You need to buy a cream with Urea. &...
