Just curious... Is this their data for all stages of colon cancer, which include II and III or stage IV?

I'm 51 and put off having a colonoscopy for a year despite worsening symptoms because I was too busy with handling crisis after crisis with my teenage son, plus too busy ...

Re: Allergic Reaction to Oxi

Is your husband stage 2? I went to the oncologist yesterday... he said that they give oxi to more advance stages, but he wanted to try this first. He said that just taking 5/FU is fine. Since I opted to take oxi and than the pills, I did not need a port. Now I only take the pills. Also, I questione...

Re: Allergic Reaction to Oxi

I also had an allergic reaction and go to MD Anderson; however, I had an anaphylactic reaction on my first infusion! I went through the 2 hour infusion and when I was ready to leave, I could not breathe. After desensitizing, they called 911, sent me to the ER for 3 hours and received a hefty bill. ...

Re: Allergic Reaction to Oxi

Hubby went in for treatment #5 today and got allergic reaction to oxi after 30 min. Nurses and doc immediately responded and gave him Benadryl, and the allergic reaction stopped at skin rashes. I am a bit upset to see the allergic reaction started so early. With only 4 rounds with Oxi, I don't know...

Re: Blood when blowing nose on Xeloda

I am not on the same cocktail - i will have my 3rd FOLFOX this week. But I do have nose issues. I have never had a bloody nose in my entire 51 years. Normally, I don't get sinus infections and i maybe see a little pink in the tissue once every year or so. So it is very noticeable to me that since F...

Yes do pass this along to your Onc. I suspect the Xeloda is drying out your nasal passage. Hopefully your Onc has a solution.

Good luck,

Lee

Blood when blowing nose on Xeloda

I just finished my first cycle with Xeloda as a monotherapy; however, for the past week and a half, there is blood every time I blow my nose. Has anyone experienced this and have any recommendations on how to treat? I have been using saline spray and increased our humidifier, but it is not working. ...

Re: Recently diagnosed and need suggestions

Thanks Deb, Just when I got diarrhea under control, I now have mouth sores starting. Went to eat lunch today, and my tongue is burning when I dipped my potatoes in ketchup! OUCH! Using water and baking soda mixture and bought Biotine. I am going to discuss lowering my dosage. If he want me to make i...

Re: Recently diagnosed and need suggestions

Green Tea, My main goal is to finish. I just finished my first round of Xeloda and this is my week off. However, since finishing the pill, I have had diarrhea every day, especially in the morning, and the first two days off, I felt yucky. . I am drinking and have a class of Gatorade to replenish ele...

Re: Recently diagnosed and need suggestions

Deb, Thanks for the info... it is great to hear a success story! Really the only difference is that my tumor is a T3. Yes, I have a grade 3 tumor, but after reading many articles, it really is not a deciding factor of recurrence. In fact, the original biopsy from my colonoscopy was Grade 2. I was go...

Re: Surgeon says stage II Oncologist stage III

Star68, I had surgery in November and was diagnosed through pathology as stage 2A. Because I had a couple of "high risk" features, he recommended post surgery chemo. The oncologist is treating me as stage III even though surgical pathology diagnosed me as stage 2. He started me with Capeox...

Re: Recently diagnosed and need suggestions

Thanks for the heads up... peanut_8! Before this nightmare started, I use to walk 2 miles a day. When I was diagnosed in October, I was on a physical and emotional roller coaster ride! My problem is that I have a type A personality and need data and immediate feedback to make decisions. I have read ...
