Re: Clay colored poop

Is your urine darker and more of an orange color than normal? If you have a gall stone blocking a bike duct your stool will become a steel grey color and the bike will go into your kidneys and bladder and color the urine a dark orange color. There would usually be pain associated with a gall stone b...

Re: To port or not for Oxi

Port! So much easier than IV. I watch people get IV infusions and it is hard to find a vein sometime, it burns or damages the vein, they have to slow the infusions down.

I have a port and have flown internationally a few times and it never shows up in X-ray or the full body scanners.

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

I was told by my oncologist every week after 6 weeks post surgery decreases the chemo effectiveness. In Canada the standard is to start 6 weeks post surgery barring any complications.

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

For the scheduling, I am not sure if that is out of the ordinary. I'm in Canada so we have a lot of differences to the US so this may not apply there. When I started my cancer journey I had my surgery and when the pathology came back as Stage 3 my surgeon made the referral to the oncologist. When I ...

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

The two week cycle was likely going to be for Folfox as that would be the standard treatment and the standard cycle.

With Capox, Xeloda, etc I believe the pill cycle is 3 weeks but the Oxi IV is still a 2 week cycle.

Re: Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs/Spas

We live in Canada but my son just read me the label on a bottled water we got at Costco and it has the label saying the state of California recognizes that the contents of this product can cause cancer and birth defects. I'm assuming that it means the bottle and not the water lol, but it is on every...

Re: Portacath insertion, what to expect?

The only issue I had when my power port was installed was my neck was sore for a couple days, felt like I pulled a muscle. Other than that it was fine.

I do have the issue of the seat belt rubbing on it sometimes but I can usually adjust the seatbelt to prevent it from happening.

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

I agree on the port. It is way better than the picc line I had at first. Don't have to worry about getting it ET, don't have to go for weekly picc cleanings and flushes. I've seen patients get oxi via IV and it looks nasty and quite painful. I would certainly get either a picc or preferably a chest ...

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

Yes, with my FAP I had hundreds of polyps. I am the only one in my family to have it so it was a spontaneous mutation and I was never screened at a young age to detect it early.

Re: PET Scan Results - More Cancer???

I had the same as you LPL. The colonoscopy found a large number of polyps due to FAP and the biopsies didn't find any malignant cells but after colon remove and pathology testing there were a lot that had cancer but the biopsied spots just happened to not contain any cancer cells.

CT scans aren't great at picking things up in the colon. They are better at detecting cancer in the other organs in your body.

Re: Things Not to Say and the Responses I want to Make (Rant)

We drink water that I collect from a spring on top of a mountain at a national forest that we live in the foothills of. I wonder what its pH is. Also, whenever I can, I buy alkalized water. I have recently been making sure that my husband drinks it also, now that he has been DXed. The thing with dr...

Re: Surgery postponed...very distressing

I don't have any information relating to the heart condition or treatment. As far as the radiation exposures goes people being treated for cancer get regular CT scans and are exposed to far more than the 100mSV you are referencing. For example I have a CT scan every 2-3 months and have had 11 of the...

Re: newly diagnosed newbie

So you post asking for help and opinions from people, say you don't have time to research yourself, get opinions and don't agree with them. Then you say we may be breaking the law or could be sued by the information we gave?

Re: newly diagnosed newbie

I'm not trying to downplay the information you are finding or the treatment path you are looking to go down but have you noticed the one thing all of those stories hav in common? It is always I have a friend, or I know someone. Unless you can find the actual people who did it and if they are still a...
