Re: Chemo Break with Existing Met in Lung

A 5mm met is pretty small. Look at the ruler. Miniscule. Colon Cancer typically grows pretty slowly. In 3 months, there are still the same options as right now. If it completely freaks you - talk to your onc about SBRT or ablation. My husband chased every met for a while. And he kept getting them, a...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

JS wife- thanks for talking me off the ledge. at 3 am when I am awake worrying, it seems so crazy that my husband even has cancer - And then every am the reality hits. Again. But I know we are more than this. Cancer does not define us, it's just part of the journey.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hey everyone Been a long time. Welcome to the new members. This is a place to vent and ask questions and get a lot of support. Completely freaking out here. We had a really rough fall and winter - finished FOLFIRI + Avastin (had a total of 32 chemo treatments). Had SBRT for lung met, then ablation o...

Re: Caregiver fatigue - How do you keep it together?

Thank you to everyone. I think you are all right. It's time for a support group or counseling or something. I haven't been this sad since the weekend he was diagnosed. I am not sure why I feel overwhelmed now of all times. We've been at this a while, we know how to fight cancer together. Just a bad ...

Caregiver fatigue - How do you keep it together?

My husband continues to have new mets. One at a time, and he has been in continuous whack a mole treatment planning since last July. RFA x 3 (then a boatload of complications), new lung met, new liver met and now 1 maybe two more lung mets. He is now enrolled in a clinical trial for KRAS + patients ...

Disability

Hey all, Looking for some ideas on what to do next. My DH has been in treatment for Stage 4 for over 2 years. Finally in Aug when he was about to start treatment for lung mets with a plan for SBRT then 3 ablations he went on short term disability. Then he had a few complications - ended up in the ho...

Re: 2nd year caregiver jitters-CAREGIVERS ONLY

We had our two year cancerversary in Nov. We thought after 30 rounds of chemo, 2 surgeries, 2 ablations and 1 SBRT he would be NED. Then a month later, my DH has a new liver met. NOT SEEN ON CT DONE A MONTH BEFORE. WTF????? At some point you have to get caregiver fatigue. How much more can you take,...

You should also be tested for celiac disease. Could explain a lot of your symptoms including the skin changes.

New met in 3 weeks???

DH has had a bit of a rough Nov. Had RFA of lung met, ended up in the hospital for 4d with a fever, then a week later a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and had a chest tube. All going well and he has a PET/CT on Monday. Today our oncologist tells us he has a new liver met - 1cm seen on PET. NOT SEEN O...

Re: Help to understand PET scan

I don't see anything here that says you have any mets in your liver. The liver is an organ that is highly metabolic so they are commenting on the glucose uptake in the liver as a baseline. There is nothing in that report that makes me think you have any liver mets.

Stage 4 looking for ideas

My DH is Stage 4, diagnosed two years ago. He has had surgical removal or RFA for every met he has (along with FOLFOX+Av, FOLFIRI + Av, and 5FU+ Av over the two years). He now has no obvious disease (we think - there may be a liver met - f/u scan in a month). He is KRAS wild, MSI stable (waiting for...

Re: Help to understand PET scan

Hi - I can help - I am a physician - Important thing to remember that SUV - or uptake of the glucose does NOT mean cancer. It needs to be compared to CTs and your known tumors to give a big picture. So I want to say very clearly that this is NOT meant to be a definitive reading - but just to help gi...

Re: Caregivers

As we speak I have just spent my 4th night in the hospital with my DH. He is depressed and discouraged. Just had RFA for his last 3 mets that we can find and then he gets readmitted. I slept two nights in a chair, the second night in a folding chair in the ED. The third night I slept on the floor. T...
