Re: Never mind

I'm not the one who has cancer, but it doesn't change the fact that this is the worst and harder thing I've ever had to face . And this is not necessarily "making it about me," it is just a fact. I also didn't see the original post, but I'm a caregiver to my husband and this statement rea...

Re: Marking time from first diagnosed or??

We mark time from when the Oncologist declared John to have "no evidence of disease", though our Oncologist marks time from diagnosis which was confirmed right after surgery. Technically since they removed the tumor and there was no sign of metastatic disease he was "cancer free"...

Re: Crazy cancer anxiety vs. legitimate concerns -- how do you differentiate?

You know I didn’t realize how old this post was until I saw the most recent entry. I’m a caregiver so it isn’t my own body that I don’t trust, it’s his and the universe in general. I’ve posted in moments of panic here before on things that I’m sure most normal people would think is bonkers haha. Som...

Re: Questions about surgery..

Before his surgery to remove the part of his colon with the tumor we were told by his surgeon that she would try to reconnect him without an ostomy but she couldn't guarantee it, it would all depend on what she found once she got in. Unfortunately, he was so bad off an ostomy was needed which he had...

Re: I’m Freaking Out

Are you feeling any better about it now? A little! It's nice to have others confirm that CRC survivors have bloating problems, and he's feeling a lot better now. He's still taking a colace once a day, so if over the weekend when he stops taking it if he still doesn't get bloated I'll feel a lot bet...

Re: I’m Freaking Out

John talked with his surgeon who told him to treat it as regular constipation, the Oncologist nurse just mentioned to call back if it persists. He's feeling a lot better this morning so hopefully it was just normal indigestion. Bowel surgery can really mess up your digestive system. I think bloating...

Re: How did you first discover or got diagnosed with colorectal cancer ?

My husband (41 at the time) had some mild cramping in the abdominal area but since he was healthy and that mild nonspecific pain could be "related to thousands of things" his doctor advised just waiting to see if it improved. It went away and we didn't think anything of it. Then right afte...

Re: I’m Freaking Out

I was talking to a coworker this morning and while part of this is definitely cancer-anxiety the other part is that anxious feeling of waiting for the shoe to drop. If I listened to my rabbit-brain we'd be hunkered down and not doing any life-changing things just in case something happens. But after...

I’m Freaking Out

Hey guys, I know this is going to seem so minor but I’m sitting here in full panic meltdown and have no one else to talk to. I woke up to find my husband wasn’t in bed but lying down on the couch because he felt bloated and didn’t want to wake me. Apparently he felt bloated yesterday too but it fade...

Re: My teenager is mad

I don’t have a teenager, but I can empathize with what he’s feeling. It seems like everyone has an opinion, and while most are well-meaning they come from a place of ignorance. People have told me how thin my husband is now and isn’t that great something “good” can come from cancer? Whenever I hear ...

Re: Reversed!

That is fantastic! My husband was in the hospital for five days for his reversal, so seeing you were initially released after one day boggles my mind! I’m sorry you had an issue but glad it turned out OK. Ever since reversal he’s been doing well like you, I was so afraid he would have a lot of issue...

Re: Cancerversary

My husband has been NED for 8 years now and I still suffer, when he seems completely fine. He has a routine colonoscopy coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm already starting to freak out. He tells me not to worry about it, no big deal for him. I think in some ways, it's harder on the caregiver. Y...

Punky44 , I am wishing you so much good luck and strength to get through this! I know how hard it is and hope your mother does well. By next Christmas, this will just be one big awful memory. I'm thinking of you both. CrossfitChick1980 , I am so sorry your husband is having trouble. I hope your fri...

Cancerversary

My husband's diagnosis anniversary is coming up and the roller coaster of emotions is unreal. On the one hand, I'm flinging so much of my energy into Christmas in an effort for this Christmas to be so wonderful it blots out last Christmas that it can't be totally healthy (it certainly hasn't been he...

Re: Incomplete colonoscopy - worried about surgery

My husband had the same issue except the mass was blocking his colon completely so we didn't really worry about anything other than getting him into surgery ASAP. After we were told he needed to finish his colonoscopy to make sure nothing else was going on but we'd have to wait for his colostomy to ...
