Re: Female Pains AFTER radiation, No Doc will Listen...

Unfortunately many are so focused on only treating the tumor that they forget what some of the long term losses/issues are, be sure to be an advocate for yourself in this area.
So another question, my skin on my butt checks, between my legs is almost as red and sore after ileostomy as it was...

Re: Surgery scheduled, clinical study for Lifeseal, questions about recovery

Wow, that's really interesting and it makes sense, kind of what I figured had to happen. I didn't have any of the visible bruising but definitely feel sore on pelvic bones. I have tried to search but Mio you know all the tricks, thank you.

Re: New on the forum

Hope your scan went well today. I am so impressed by your attitude. My friends are bringing me food, lots of casseroles, soups. I am going to avoid the cheese as well, it makes things slow down. There is a private company here that does the genetic testing, about 400 dollars. I can't decide about do...

Re: Surgery scheduled, clinical study for Lifeseal, questions about recovery

Terri I had a pump briefly, I guess I didn't use it enough because they disconnected it the next day. I had three oxi, one a day Wed, Thurs and Friday. They gave me gabapentin for nerve pain as needed, tylenol(2 300mg). So really not much but I took at when offered. I did not fill the oxi prescripti...

Baths, lots of baths. I also used Calmoseptine cream once radiation was done. What's normal look like after cancer, treatment? I haven't figured it out yet. I am drinking a ton of herbal tea to hydrate. Everything was dry.

Re: Female Pains AFTER radiation, No Doc will Listen...

Your genetic comment struck a cord. I was going to have the genetics testing done in Palo Alto but the counselor shared some interesting information about insurance. If you get a new job, change insurance, etc. cancer can't be excluded as a preexisting condition but if I gave the genetic marker any...

Re: Female Pains AFTER radiation, No Doc will Listen...

Well, before the surgery, you just want that tumor gone and you want to survive. I don't really plan on having kids at my age and I'd worry about passing on genetic problems having had cancer. So there's some loss but I'm getting used to that as I get older.
Your genetic comment struck a cor...

Re: OTC Suggestions for Nausea from Oxaliplatin

Mike, To the person that suggested Hypafix - I opened the box and it wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting some kind of plasticy tape and what I found is a material that's like wafer tape. I put a three-inch piece on the top of the wafer to see how well it does. The 5 cm width is perfect - ha...

Thanks Mike and Claudia I guess there are too many possibilities, side effects for surgeon to share them all. Sorry to hear about both of your side effects. Its really a lot to deal with isn't it? Home health stoma nurse said to talk gently to my body, honor it and promise to give it time to heal. T...

Re: Female Pains AFTER radiation, No Doc will Listen...

So almost two weeks after Lap AR. Had a catheter briefly in hospital. I find that I pee once, sit a bit maybe 30 seconds, and pee more. Skin down through and around rectum is sore. Is this anyone else's experience?

Hi Claudia,
How is it at home? Managing all the new tubs, bags, eating and staying hydrated? Thinking about you from half a world away.

Re: Surgery scheduled, clinical study for Lifeseal, questions about recovery

Great suggestion about pelvic floor program. I spoke to my yoga/Pilates instructor last night. She will work with me when I am released for exercise. Started isometric program, kegels. I can use the continuing education credits for my license so I will look into a class, double benefit. There is a P...
