Re: Please Help With Weight Loss/Endless Painful Constipation

I'm sure there is another side to the story. I guess we all come to terms with our diagnosis in different ways and at a different pace with different life circumstances. Perhaps he/she simply needs some more time to go through the motions. When I was first diagnosed with the possibilities of a temp...

I made well over a year's salary in trading profits in these three weeks. What I found is that my trading and investing is a lot better when I have more time to focus on it. NHMike , do you mind sharing what you did in August? I also have more spare time since September 1st. :( Just trading stocks.

Re: Retrograde ejaculation

I had this after surgery (October 2017) and mentioned it to my surgeon and she suggested seeing a urologist. I found several others on another CRC forum that experienced the same thing. I had meant to go see a urologist but I really don't like going to see a doctor given that I've had a lifetime's s...

Re: Is W&W an option for a partial response

@Phillypatient I spoke to MSK today. Since I live in California, they recommended a hospital from the NCI network. It just so happens UCSF is very close to me. I tried calling numerous times and even left a message. But no one got back to me. Luckily I had a phone meeting with my PCP to go over my ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

The Male functionality lost after the LAR appears to have started working today. There is an old thread on Colon Talk about it which I need to read up on. I also have to look through an anatomy book to see how things are supposed to work and I have a number of papers to go through on the subject. It...

Re: Is W&W an option for a partial response

@NHMike Thank you for sharing your history. It puts it in a better perspective for me. I thought the ultrasound would designate the area for the FNA? How does that work when the ultrasound comes back positive for cancer and the FNA does not? This is probably why I had a hard time interpreting the p...

Re: Is W&W

There was a lot of discussion of W&W here back in 2018 as many were doing clinical trials with it but my recollection is that they were all Stage 2. I did not follow it that closely because I had my LAR in 2017. I imagine that it's more of a routine thing for Stage 2 patients today. I was Stage ...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Hi Mike, I continue to be a little more clumsy, less dexterity than before chemo but it subtle so is it older age or neuropathy, so I am not on computer much except to do work. Teleheath and virtual classroom are hard on eyes as well so the blogs that used to support me are a drain on my eye and ha...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

Just thought I'd post a note on a friend that had cancer in the 1990s and was on a chemo drug that gave her MS in the 2010s. She has had multiple rounds of chemo and stem cell therapy and was able to stand up on her own (she has needed 7x24 care for the past year). So it is progress. I was able to s...

Re: New stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis

My husband (age 41) was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on August 31. His primary tumor is in his sigmoid colon, and he has more tumors in his liver, lungs and distant lymph nodes. His CEA number was 713. He has now gone through 2 rounds of folfox + avastin. He had to skip his last round becaus...

Re: Urinary issues after chemoradiation ?

I didn't have any problems with radiation but I lost some male function and I attribute it to the stent to the bladder as a surgical problem would have meant incontinence. I will go see a urologist to see if it can be fixed one of these days. The whole area takes quite a beating. I had a fair amount...

Re: Has anyone had to have another LAR?

I had problems for about two months with the ileostomy and that was due to an appointment with the WOC nurse. We discussed my problems and she found a better-fitting ileostomy solution and things were much better with the different system. I would prefer not to have a colostomy as well but I do have...

Re: My wheels haven't stopped turning...

My CEA rose through chemo and I was on Xeloda and Oxaliplatin. The oncologist was also concerned with the rise and ordered a CT and found nothing. I believe that the rising CEA was related to increasing exercise and maybe the Xeloda.

Re: 3 months left of life

Sorry to hear this. I also thought of transplant but I guess you'd need a donor and I don't know how that works. I would look at trying to do the most with remaining time. This is what I was thinking about after diagnosis not realizing that I could survive.

Re: Please Help With Weight Loss/Endless Painful Constipation

I have been STUNNED at the lack of response Ive received regarding this issue from “experts”. They don’t seem to care. I have gone to a nurse at my oncologist with tears in my eyes begging for help. Basically l, her response was “not my job”. My oncologist said basically the same thing “ Talk to pa...
