Re: Recurrence.... Surprised? Or did you know?

I was completely floored. I felt fine and only found out because of CEAs and follow up CT scans. Be agressive in the follow ups, but try not to worry about all the what if's. A friend of mine shared his perspective with me about running scenarios through his head. You can run through a thousand of t...

Re: Compazine Vs. Ativan?

Zofran gave me wicked headaches, so it was Compazine for me. I used the Ativan for the hypersensitivity I got with treatments. Very strange things would bother me. One day it was the smell of paper, the next day it was the way a piece of chicken looked on my plate. I actually made my husband eat it ...

Re: Diagnosed in February 2010

Sorry you had to join, but welcome to the board! When you're having your port accessed, ask for the cold spray. The nurses don't automatically use it and you sometimes have to ask for it, but it helped me a great deal. It still hurts a bit, but it's so much easier. Also, take a deep breath right bef...

Re: Silly Sayings & Slang thread

Craps - A gambling game that we all play (albeit involuntarily). Rules are simple - see if you can make it to the bathroom in time. Crap Shoot - What happens when you lose at Craps. I entered the tournament tonight. Made the mistake of having a salad for dinner. Round 1 - the restaurant to the groce...

Re: New Plan to Take on Recurrence

So add our voices to those here who strongly recommend second opinions. Absolutely! My sister recently called me to tell me about a friend that she just met. They connected immediately because this person was telling her that she was just diagnosed with cancer and that the doctor basically wrote he...

Why is it always good news/bad news?

Got my scan results back yesterday. Good news: the PVE worked and the left lobe of my liver has increased from 30% to 35% volume. Bad news: the lesion has grown from 1.5 to 2.4 cm. More bad news: there's a new one - 1 cm. More good news: it's on the right lobe of the liver which is the side that was...

Welcome Eric & David. I'm a relatively new member, but you'll quickly find everything that you're looking for here short of a cure. Aside from a wealth of information, you get love, patience, understanding, people to cry with, and people to laugh with. Best of all, it's with people who have been...

It was well deserved and you have nothing to feel bad about. It sounds like the guy got what he deserved regardless of chemo or not!

Re: Surgery is postponed because my doctor WHAT?!?

I love horseback riding too, so I can't blame the guy. Although I'll have to admit - I didn't see him as the horseback riding type. The worst of it truly is the waiting though. You psyche yourself up and start the countdown to D-Day and then it kind of takes the wind out of your sails. At least it h...

Re: i need to hear the "5 day rat" story

This happens not to be done with a lava lamp around - although that would make the Onc room a bit more fun.

What a GREAT idea! Now I'm going to have to get one for ours. :D

Surgery is postponed because my doctor WHAT?!?

Yup. Fell off a horse a few weeks ago and cracked a couple of ribs. Why couldn't he be like the other doctors and just play golf? His NP called me on Friday and said soooo, you're *supposed* to have surgery on Thursday, right? Well...we're going to have to postpone a couple of weeks. I could be refe...

Re: but I look horrible in orange...

As everyone here already knows, the first round of exams is the worst because as you meet with each doctor, they want to have a feel for themselves. My husband saw the size of my radiation onc's hands and was very glad that he wasn't a proctologist. Instead, he just asked if the doc would "sign...
