This is good! I wish I would have gone in and had a colonoscopy when I first started seeing blood... removal at this point is a good thing for sure!

Re: 22 years old and scared to death

Wait do you Americans stay in the hospital doing the prep ?? Is that standard? We don’t really go to a hospital unless the GL find something, it’s more like a small Gastro clinic with some nurses and a GL. Anyway I did the colonoscopy on the rocks with no medicine, because I wanted to transport mys...

Re: 22 years old and scared to death

Could you guys elaborate on the entertainment part? I honestly thought that the prep makes you go often, but the bm's are quick. Will I spend a lot of time on the toilet then? :D I'm on the optimist spectrum for now because I thought about how I only had this one bleeding and no bleeding after. Lik...

Re: 22 years old and scared to death

Hopefully it will all be over soon :D piles/hemorid can also cause mucus because of irritation, so if the blood was caused by a bursting hemorid then it can also explain the mucus. In fact it could be a hundred things like a normal stomach virus. Go get yourself some great toilet entertainment for ...

Mike I am sorry things are so rough for you. I appreciate your honesty as it give those of us behind in treatment you a realistic picture of what's ahead. I don't like euphemisms, but facts. Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I just had my fifth round today and boy do I feel terrible. But it helps knowing that I’m near the end, and that I can recover. You're almost there. I had six rounds of Xelox also. I remember how excited I was for my last round. Hope your next 3 weeks aren't too bad. Did not do the Xelox, but six r...

Re: Goblet Cell Carcinoid

Hi, I'm new to the site and catching up with a lot of good information. Is anyone here currently Goblet Cell Carcinoid -- an aggressive form of cancer that "lies midway" between Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) and andenocarcinoid, or colon cancer. I saw 3 posts but from several yrs ago. Ther...

Re: Family History

Mine is hereditary (diagnosed at 42) so the protocol for my kids would be genetic testing around 18-25, then they would also start colonoscopies at 25 or so. The gene that likely was the primary driver for mine is one of the Lynch genes that is not associated with obvious suite of other cancers - th...

Re: CT results

Just received my CT results of lung. No change in 4mm nodule which is good news. Also, no progression in inflammation or scarring doctors feel is caused by chemo or auto immune disorder which is also good news. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. You all understand how stressful having ...

Re: Fasting During Chemo

I do a moderated fast. 16/8 16 hours fasting and 8 hours normal eating. If I time it right, on chemo days I go much longer than 16. I eat after I get home. I don't do this all week. More like 4-5 days a week. I don't know if this contributes to how well chemo is working for me but it doesn't hurt m...

Re: Fasting During Chemo

Hi guys, I've recently read some interesting information about the benefits of fasting the day before/day of/day after chemo. The thought is fasting will starve the cancer cells. Has anyone tried this or heard about the benifits from doing so? Any feedback would be great. Thanks so much! Am fasting...

Re: Port Removal

Thanks guys. Back on the couch watching ‘Suits’, sans port  Took FOREVER to get into theatre and then my little friend had made himself well and truly at home and was a pesky little bugger to get out. Lots of scar tissue holding him in. No sedation of any kind, and needed two lots of local an...

Re: Stage IIA: Chemo or not?

I was diagnosed as stage 2a in 2014. The oncologist told me that chemo would only give me an extra 3% to 5% reduction in recurrence risk. He said that the small benefit outweighed the risk. I followed his suggestion and didn't have chemo. I have been in remission since surgery. I had no negative pr...
