Re: Is this blood on my stool?

Always safe to go to Dr. Always. I had to fight my way to get a colonoscopy at age 38 yr. old. Finally, after a 2nd opinion, I was granted one. I argued hard, but worth it. They found one benign polyp. My mom was diagnosed 8 months ago. At the moment she has no more cancer! Prayers.

Re: My California LAR Story

I believe that the ileostomy reversal surgery took about 2 hours. I was very happy to have the reversal completed; I still feel that way. Very happy to hear this. Did you have do the clean up chemo prior to your reversal like Xeloda? My mom has to do the Xeloda for 4 months than reversal. Thank you...

Re: Stage IIA: Chemo or not?

I have heard that 3 months seems to be as effective as 6 months. Mine was 4 months of Xelox. I don't know if that protocol pertains to xeloda only though. Not sure. My mom will start her last chemo before reversal tom. Xeloda for 4 months. She did well with it last year. I hope that she will tolera...

Re: Scared & Would Love Some Advice

And even after wiping sometimes it's still wet and itchy back there (very annoying!). Sorry for being so graphic. Don't be embarrassed as I think everyone on this board has experienced that. I had that problem too and thought something was wrong with me. I had my 1st colonscopy done last summer of ...

Re: 56 went for a colonoscopy they found 5 cm tumor

Turns out they found a 5 cm tumor. My mother had the same diagnosis a you from back in May. I was with her when the Dr. gave me the news. Now, she has no cancer as the dr. mentioned it's called "Near Pathological Response" I researched the best colorectal surgeon on the west coast and swi...

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

1) Would you go down this path at my age with treatment? It seems old hat, that much better alternatives might exist. 2) Surgeon told mum that her and I are "100% Lynch" based on what he has seen. He was amazing with Mum but I am struggling to accept his treatment plan armed with more inf...

Re: Medicare versus Private Insurance--Advice please?

I'm not a social worker but my friend is and she has a FB page and I can share that with you. I switched my mom's insurance to Medi-Medi (Medicare and Medi-CAL) cause she qualified due to her low income status and she is covered for life. I worked my butt off to switch her insurance from standard me...

Re: CT Scan of Pelvis with Contrast

It's too small to biopsy and a pet scan would not pick it up. So waiting is the only option. I hope your mom's doctor can give you piece of mind. Thank you for the reply. Yes, it is very discouraging to read those scans, then again, I have not talked to the Dr. just yet. My mom also suffers from ar...

CT Scan of Pelvis with Contrast

Hi all, I happen to come across my mom's recent Pathology report after her scan about two weeks ago post surgery. I was a little discouraged to find out some new findings. I happen to have access to her files at the hospital and the Dr. still has not gone through the results. I happen to pull them u...

Re: Mental status changes

He is now 1-1/2 years since chemo and he is very forgetful and not making sense again. Its almost like a dementia or something. Liver was clear on CT. No rise in CEA. Any thoughts? It's called "Chemo Brain" as my mother's dr. says. My mom will be 78 this Wed, and yes she has been very for...
