Re: Insurance denied husband’s genomic testing

My insurer denied the Foundation1 Testing that my oncologist ordered, stating that it was still experimental. My oncologist appealed (it was denied) and I appealed with lots of research and my appeal was likewise denied. However, my insurance DID approve off-label treatment with Keytruda even though...

Re: Best clinical trial(s) - stage 4 w liver mets

Have you considered an HAI pump at Memorial Sloan Kettering yet? It saved my life....and got me to resection when systemic chemo alone could not. That would be my first step if I was starting over with liver mets.

Sad News About Arizona Mom

With a heavy heart, I wanted to share some sad news with everyone. I just heard from Lara's husband, Byon, this morning. Lara (arizona mom) passed away on July 23 in her sleep at their home. Lara was a strong kind woman who loved her family dearly and who did everything possible to stay with them. M...

Re: Just DX. looking for info.

I went on a Disney Cruise 4 months into my chemotherapy...I didn't have any issues...and my oncologist never suggested that I couldn't or shouldn't go or otherwise live my life. (I had little kids (4 & 8 years old and if they aren't a cesspool of germs...not sure what is.) :)

Re: Liver met near artery and bile duct

In February 2013 I had Irreversible electroporation (I think it is now called Nanaoknife) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on a tumor in my liver that was too close to my arterial artery to remove it or even to do RFA since the blood in the artery would cool the RFA too much for it to be ef...

Re: Keytruda Side Effects: bad joint pain

I (thankfully) have not experienced any sort of joint pain or really any pain at all on Keytruda in the year I have been on it. I have had a few weeks where I ached all over (as if I were getting a cold/flu) but that only lasted 5-6 days here and there. I am sorry that you are experiencing this. Cyn...

Re: Low platelets before chemo

My platelets haven't been above 90 for 4 years. I have done Irinotecan and Xeloda with platelet counts in the 80's. Liver treatment and damage can cause an enlarged spleen and chronic low platelet counts I have been told. no one seems to worry about mine.

Re: Mop up chemo - Port vs non-port for Oxi?

I did six rounds without a port. I did not have any issue at all. I did it in my arm at inside the elbow joint.
