Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Day two of second treatment was pretty uneventful. I felt good most of the day. Towards the evening, I started to get some slight chest pains again, although it doesn't seem as painful as it did after the first treatment. Maybe it was heartburn after all and the Prilosec is working. I'm still going...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

How was day 2? Hey Tdubz. Day two went smooth sailing. I had a bit of insomnia from 2:30-5:00pm, perhaps lingering steroid by product. I had eaten a 1/3rd of a thc/cbd choco 2 hours prior to bed and that gave me about 4.5 hours uninterrupted sleep. I also strapped the sports wrap pump pack on and p...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

That's awesome that you don't have the cold sensitivity. I'm a cold drink guy, can't stand any warm drink, so drinking room temp water has been tough lol I normally in with you on liking liquids on the cool side, but this morning I got some chilled filter water from the fridge. Filled up a water bo...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

Well round one is done, at least the in chair portion. Now I'm home wearing a 5FU pump in a camera bag of sorts. Overall the treatment was a breeze. I only experienced one slight symptom. First bite of yogurt I ate while there I got some nerve sensation in a couple of upper molars. I had this occur ...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Well, after a great week and a half off I'm back at it for round 2. It ended up being great timing. I was feeling good for Mother's Day, my sons end of school program, my daughters dance rectial, and my birthday lol. So I had a pretty good off week. This week is round 2. Off to good start so far. W...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

About 1.5 hours into oxaliplatin and leucovorin drips. Halfway. So far easy peasy. Just making me piss a lot. Every 30 minutes hauling my drip bags into bathroom.

Msg from the chair.

Re: Another new Forum Member.

Well tomorrow is day one of chemo. Hoping for no major complications/symptoms. Aside from the cut finger (which seems to be making good progress on healing - no bleeding) and the blood in mucus (which haven't seen in a few days), I had an issue with one of the prescription anti nausea medicines - Zo...

Re: Edible Marijuana and Pain Control

Hey Scott, I'll be 5 weeks post LAR tomorrow. I got some edible chocolates that were 10mg THC and 10mg CBD. I also got some CBD 15:1 ratio in vape form. I'd suggest sticking with all edibles if you can. Vape reduces 95%, supposedly, of the smoke - but none-the less it is still going into lungs. Here...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

So had my preliminary nurses visitation at the chemo center today. Mostly a rehash of all the same old info, but got to see the facilities. Everyone has fairly large curtained off areas. Looks fairly updated, clean, and accommodating. I was concerned about mucus in stool, especially with blood - but...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

As far as hitting the gym during chemo, were you post surgery or pre when doing chemo? Do you recall how long after surgery/chemo started you hit the gym? I actually canceled my membership at Golds and they were nice enough to refund the money I had given up front for the entire year. I was post su...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

benben, Good luck with your chemo—it's a weird experience to undergo. Chemo is not customized once a protocol is selected, unless it is modified due to side effects or patient request. I write to tell you neuropathy from oxaliplatin is no joke and can, though not necessarily, be severe. So my sugge...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

The past couple days I've been passing a lot of mucus. Yesterday I had 9 bowel movements. About 3rd movement started noticing some mucus and by movement 7 it was pretty much just mucus. I know that this can be "normal" i suppose. My big concern was the past couple mucus stools also contain...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

4 Weeks post surgery today. Continued improvements for most part. BM's are still off, but better. I had 1 day of urgent movements (figures happened to be day I traveled to do some work on one of my second homes). The following day mostly just passed mucus until later in the evening when the more reg...

Re: NED 4.5 year after lung recurrence

4.5 years ago I had surgery to remove two pulmonary nodules, one of them was cancerous. I just got the results of my twice-yearly scan - I am still NED (CT and CEA normal). My story is in my signature - I was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer almost seven years ago. My doctor wants me to do one ...

Re: How long in hospital after surgery?

Thanks again everyone. Thanks for the very handy information. My wife is printing it out now to bring with us on Friday. Good luck to you Friday. I go for blood draw/chemo consultation on Friday. As for my hospital stay - the surgeon said I could go home after 3 nights at the hospital, but I opted ...
