Another spot… ablation ahead

Well, I had a few months of NED in at least. And the plan isn’t chemo. So I can’t be too upset - but of course still upsetting. I was grumpy for a day; then felt way better; then fell all the way apart as unexpected delays created a situation where I wasn’t able to tell my twins what was up (they we...

Re: Checklists for newly diagnosed Stage IV patients?

My only additional thought here is that it might make sense to have a set of checklists, so that it’s clear what needs to happen in the first weeks vs months. It can be overwhelming to get so much advice right at the beginning!

Re: My blog is (wonky but) live...!

Ginabeewell - I read your current draft of "My Favorite Posts" and it looks very good to me. I like the way it is written. It succinctly summarizes your Stage IV journey, and it clarifies why you chose the title "We Are All Made of Stars" when you set up your blog web-site. I do...

Re: My blog is (wonky but) live...!

... What other things were you looking for when you first got diagnosed? Besides proof that you would live, that is? Ginabeewell - ⋅  The FightCRC organization has done a survey of "unmet needs" of newly diagnosed CRC patients. Here is a list of their main findings: 1. Family an...

Re: So……….I Have A First Date Tomorrow

Who knows what someone else wants or needs in a relationship? I hope you are able to leave room for the possibility that dating will allow you to come into someone’s life and make it better - without limiting yourself by worrying about the possibility of an early end. Chances are good when dating th...

Re: My blog is (wonky but) live...!

Thank you - I hadn’t thought of that, but it’s a great idea. I think this weekend we will put a bit more time into polishing it up before we make it any more “public.” This audience is my official beta test. : ) But so appreciative of thoughts and feedback as I migrate it from something that was set...

Re: My blog is (wonky but) live...!

...I remember how desperate I was to Google patients who looked just like me in the wake of my first diagnosis; and I'd love to build out some additional content about the kinds of things that were useful. Maybe a full page of: WHAT NOT TO SAY TO A CANCER PATIENT ... Ginabeewell - Thanks a lot for ...

My blog is (wonky but) live...!

I spent last weekend building out a very basic blog and populating all the Facebook posts that we made in our private group, so that public audiences would be able to see updates from the past 3 and a half years. Thought there would be about 50 posts - there are more like 135!! I remember how desper...

Re: Back to NED!

Thanks to everybody for joining in the celebration - so many of you gave me hope when it seemed like the oncologists had given up on me before they even started! All of this has inspired me to take my personal Facebook group and convert it to a blog. I’m working with someone who is helping me migrat...

Back to NED!

Had scans yesterday and the shortest meeting maybe ever with Dr Kemeny today. I’m all clear! Need to update my signature but for those who haven’t been keeping track, that NED comes after 3.5 years, 37 rounds of chemo, three surgeries, and six days of radiation most recently (this past December). Wh...

p.s. Gina, we haven’t heard from you but I am anxious to hear how your scan went and your covid experience. Send us an update if you are up to sharing. Sorry to leave you hanging! And totally laughing about your bile situation, that sounds exactly like something I would do. I had drains for months,...

Camicom, perhaps Ginabeewell will look in and comment on this for you. (I think that's the right way to draw it to her attention? If not, I suggest you look up her thread(s) if you haven't already. I don't know where you are located, but sometimes people are able to get the pump refilled more local...

Re: I got my chemo curls in 2020 *

Thanks for the update - although I groaned several times on reading it, remembering how fun it is to deal with fun like that - I feel like I had quite a few of your same complications during my last surgery. And a big thanks for your walking call out, I had no idea how much I needed that until I saw...
