Re: Immunotherapy Questions

That is good news that she got a response and the tumor completely resolved. It's probably a good idea in that it probably killed things that couldn't be caught in scans or detected also. I was curious though if other immunotherapy options were on the table and discussed by the oncologist, such as O...

Re: Immunotherapy Questions

Thanks Jack&KatiesMommy and henry123 for your replies. Looks like one of you is taking Keytruda and the other Opdivo. Apparently Keytruda and Opdivo are said to be more or less about equivalent, although there may be some differences not yet fully understood well enough to choose one over the ot...

Immunotherapy Questions

Has anyone ever gone on Immunotherapy, was then later found NED (maybe after a cleanup surgery), and then off of immunotherapy for some time now? If so, is there any limitation on being able to revisit the immunotherapy in the future if needed? Does it lose its effectiveness?

Re: Starting immunotherapy next week

I'm really glad it's working well for you Beth, as it gives hope to others. Thanks for your replies Beth and everyone! Still deciding whether to try Opdivo + Yervoy or just go with Keytruda alone. It's a tough decision because of not wanting to come short of doing enough to give a fighting chance at...

Re: Starting immunotherapy next week

My oncologist presented my two immunotherapy options as keytruda alone, or Opdivo plus Yervoy. We went with keytruda because it is generally somewhat easier on the body. From what I've read recently, stats show Keytruda clearly beating Opdivo, but Opdivo plus Yervoy works better than Opdivo alone. ...

Re: Starting immunotherapy next week

Hello fellow Lynchie and opdivoite, I pray that immunotherapy works out for you. Good to know that my input here is helping someone. Do consider aspirin also with Nivolumab after talking to your oncologist. As a side note, Nivolumab has been not too bad so far. Hi, I've heard that aspirin could be ...

Re: Starting immunotherapy next week

Hello, could those who have been on keytruda or mono immunotherapies of the like please chime in with your experiences based on the following?: colon cancer was diagnosed about 4 years ago, surgery to remove the mass and total colectomy was performed followed by 6 months of folfox and was NED for l...

Re: Recurrence, Surgery, and Post-Surgery CEA

But how would I best be able to identify the best oncologist in my Kaisers in my area.. there are like 3 major Kaisers within 30 minutes. Do you have a primary care physician you know and trust? They will definitely have some insights about who the best local oncologist might be. And I found that t...

Re: Original colon cancer spread to peritoneal

Thank you both for your replies. If anyone else has some input or advice, I hope you please share... I would be grateful to know if I have other options because the current oncologist is taking a wait and see approach and I am wanting a 2nd opinion but feel trapped because of Medicare restrictions o...

Original colon cancer spread to peritoneal

Having had colon cancer approximately 4 years ago, with surgery to remove the tumor (which required a total colectomy), some lymph nodes, followed by 6 months of chemo (Folfox - last 2 months a bit toned down due to the toll it was taking), about 1.5 years later, CEA started creeping up from 1.x to ...

Re: 2nd opinions outside of your hospital network

unfortunately I was told that even if I'm paying cash they (Sutter) can't see me because I'm with Kaiser has anybody ever heard of such a thing?

Do you think it's some kind of a liability concern on their part?

2nd opinions outside of your hospital network

As a member of kaiser who wanted a second opinion from an oncologist at Sutter, I was told that the Sutter oncologist can't see someone from Kaiser, even if it's paid for out of pocket. I'm not understanding why this is... Do you?

Re: Recurrence, Surgery, and Post-Surgery CEA

I would be a little concerned about the statement "it was on top of something and that couldn't be removed". Like you, wondering what "that" is? Unfortunately CEA just isn't a reliable marker for everyone. It wasn't for me until it went from 1.9 to a whopping 447 in just 7 month...
