Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@C2WAVE2 You sound like me. I haven't had a bowel movement yet today (stomach is getting that familiar grumbly feeling). I have been careful what I eat, but have felt mainly just dehydrated today. Throat has been dry, been drinking plenty I would think though. Question for those who have gone throug...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 7: started off great, ended horribly - I started off the day really well. I slept well, and woke up feeling better than I had since I got home. i decided to try the Metimucil. It seemed to help I think. After a few hours I had my first bowel movement and they actually seemed somewhat well forme...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

All - thank you all for your kind words and advice. I really hope I am able to get back to a healthy diet in short order. I am hyper-paranoid about the cancer coming back and know diet can play a role. Seems like everything safe to eat is linked to rectal cancer. Plus I worry about the constant infl...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 6: Much easier day. Before bed I had taken an immodium and a 1/2 a oxycodone and make it through the night with zero issues. I woke up in the morning with a slight urge to go but nothing came out. Ate a half of a banana as I woke up hungry. For breakfast I did an English muffin with some salmon...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Hi Chuck, Yes the bloody water is normal. Also so is the unrinary issues from the anesthesia, usually takes me a week to get back to normal. Also remember when your colon gets very inflammed from constant going it will push against your prostate (for men) and your bladder. Good luck, I wish I could ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 5: Mostly Misery. Before bed I broke and took a full immodium and half a pain killer. I didn't need it so much for the pain as I did for hoping it settled my colon down. My bottom hurt so bad from going so many times and the muscle spasms I felt in my colon as I went over and over. I slept thro...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 4: This has been a LOT tougher. I slept through last night with zero issues. Woke up once to pee (never can make it through a full night for as long as I can remember... tiny bladder) Pain wise, I am fine without narcoics, in fact -- tylonal has been more than enough. I woke up, drank my coffee ...

Re: Husband recently diagnosed w Colon Cancer

I'm sorry to hear that, and wish you the best. This forum is a godsend -- helped me through a long and difficult journey. My case was similar to his, 35 and noticed blood in stool. I didn't have the weight loss, but was still stage 3C in the end. I am cancer free now and just finished my reversal (r...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

@Basil -- I find it easier. I only took pain killers on the first day. On just Tylenol now. I wanted to avoid getting consitpated, as they want you to poo before you leave. It does hurt some when food passes through the stitched intestin and when you move certain ways, but not all that bad. I can't ...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Day 2: was uneventful. Ate a ton, drank some coffee even (surprised that they let me) and did laps around the hospital. They upgraded me to GI Soft. Meatloaf and Mashpotatoes and carrots were the best food I think I've ever eaten (after broth lol) Still unable to go, but I think it will be soon... T...

Re: Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

Haven't passed anything yet, (morning here at hospital) but I feel it coming soon. I was only liquid diet yesterday. Feel decent, stomach hurts a little bit, but that is more hunger than anything else. I just went for my morning walk. Thank you for the gum suggestion, I will see if someone here has ...

Reversal Journal -- just had the surgery this morning.

I had my reversal surgery this morning. Around 8am. It is 4:10pm eastern and I feel pretty good so far. Stomach is acting a little queasy because they have me on a liquid diet. I thought it might be helpful to others to keep my log. I know others have done it on here, but everyone is different. The ...

Re: I've made it!

Awesome! Congratulations! A piece of advice someone gave me for when I am done with everything and I recommend it to anyone else. Start planning a fun, celebratory get-away! Even if it is inexpensive if you can't really afford it. I was told to do it before my last treatment, but I would still apply...
