Read an interesting article this week and wanted to share

When I went in Tues for treatment #4, I picked up a copy of "Guide to Chemotherapy" and was flipping through it later in the day. The article titled "Get the nutrition you need" was short but had good suggestions. Thought I would pass along the info. 1. Boost your appetite with c...

Re: So done with this club!

Forum drama always amuses me, it's like watching Wolf Blitzer interview Donald Trump. Hilarious listening to two people yell at each other knowing full well that neither will change the other's view yet still going through the motions. The anonymity of the internet is both a great and a horrible thi...

Re: Headache....ibuprofen?

My onc told me to take ancetomenophine (sp?) (Tylenol, etc...) while on chemo, not to take ibuprophen. Can't remember the reason but I'm sure someone will chime in with that info. Hope this helps.

Re: Chemoflage?

JB........I just get a "flushed look", like I've been out in the sun and from hot flashes  , during chemo week but I've determined that is from the Dexamethasone I take. By Sunday it is gone. Hopefully your onc can figure it out quickly. Hey Bev.....I had a couple of beers on Sat and...

No prep for me before my reversal. Just clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight before surgery.

Re: 3rd Treatment for me today...

Glad to see you are doing well so far with your treatments. That is always a plus. Your attitude is great! You and I are on the same schedule. I had my third treatment today as well. Today Avastin was added to my chemo cocktail too. My onc and I waited until #3 to add it because we wanted to be sure...

Re: Extra hydration bonus

Hydration is definitely important. And as Rix said.....the decadron buzz makes a difference too. I get it on treatment day and take Dexamethesone Tues - Friday and stay pumped up all week.

Pat,

What a beautiful essay. You have such a gift with your writing. I wish you beautiful and pain free days. You have given us so much over the years....information, compassion, plain old common sense and a kick in the butt if it was needed. I just want to say Thank You.

Re: Severe Diahreea

JBinNJ, Metamucil will help you to "bulk" up too. It really does work both ways as needed. When I had my Ileo reversal done and to control the diahrea when I needed to my surgeon told me to use metamucil. I only needed to use 1 tsp in 8 oz. of water. Works like a charm. I try Imodium when ...
