Re: To share my “ghost” story

Not quite sure where I fit into the ghost scenario. I came to this site in 2006 and haven't left. I have survived st3c colon ca into 6 nodes since Jan 1998. I don't ever feel smug about it because there are always things to remind me( last scope two years ago produced 4 polyps from 4-12 mm) . I have...

Re: Study - Sensitive Topics

I have no problems discussing or answering any personal questions. Thanks to surgery ,chemo ect that part of my life ceased to exist over twenty years ago so I would probably be a poor subject for a study. Ron.

Re: Constipation vs Bowel Blockage whats the difference?

Hi cptmac, Constipation is my constant companion. At one stage I was on Targin (oxycodone //naloxone) for chronic pain. I really thought that the constipation would kill me. My cancer surgery was the full sternum to groin cut so I have problems with adhesions. My nephrologist told me that the naloxo...

With everyone we lose we lose a little bit of ourselves. She was a special lady. Never once did I hear her complain , she was nothing but positive and supportive. Like so many here she just deserved the chance to live a full and happy life. Cancer SUCKS. Ron.

Re: Aspirin

I would love to take aspirin or nsaids just for pain relief. Unfortunately I have nephrotic syndrome of the kidneys and most nephrologists don't like aspirin and nsaids , on top of that I was dxed with atrial flutter and atrial fib in Jan this year. The loss of protein associated with the kidney pro...

Re: Diltiazem hydrochloride 2% cream or Lidocaine for fissure?

Hi Ocstacy, I use ditiazem daily but I use it for blood pressure control and also because it allows me to use lesser doses of cyclosporine which I take for nephrotic syndrome of the kidneys. Diltiazem is licensed for treatment of hypertension and angina. It appears it is also used in a gel or ointme...

Re: How many different kinds of diarrhea?

Hi O Stoma Mia, I can vaguely recall my oncologist telling me when I first started chemo that 5fu seems to act very much like Epson salts drawing fluid from the body via osmosis and flushing out the system. I had to change the strength and frequency of my chemo to lessen the problem and I had chemo ...

Re: Bev G

It was with deep sadness that I read the news of Bev's passing. It was totally unexpected for me. I know she has been suffering some strange and difficult to diagnose problems in the past twelve months. I don't think it was cancer related directly but may have stemmed from some long term side effect...

Re: It’s my 20th anniversary today :) (stage 4)

Congratulations on making the twenty years, I know how hard it is. I was stage3c into 6 nodes. I made it to twenty in Jan this year. I still have regular checks , $ polyps up to 11 mm last scope. Wishing you continued good health, cheers Ron.

Re: T2 diabetes and chemo: any advice?

I am type two diabetic. I simply refused to have anything to do with dexamethasone whilst on chemo. Unfortunately I had auto -immune problems with my kidneys some time after chemo. My neph at the time put me on high dose prednisone believing it was minimal change disease of the kidneys. That ramped ...

Re: survivor since 1991

Hi Bomberbob, Congratulations on your survival. I understand your sentiments completely. Sometimes the medical profession forget that once you have had cancer you are in the zone and will always be at risk of developing new ones. I had to fight to have my last colonoscopy performed. The board at the...

Re: what happens after chemo?

Hi Caat55, At the end of my chemo( 48 sessions over a year) my onc did one last scope and scan then handed me back to the surgeon. He did not expect me to survive beyond three years and he continued cea and scans every 6 months for nearly seven years before he finally declared I was cured of that ca...

Re: Right Side vs Left Side

The results of my first scan stated that I had a right side hemicolectomy. I pointed it out to my surgeon and he nearly wet himself. It appears that the technician was looking at the scans and decided if the missing portion of colon was on his right hand it must be a right hemi. I assume my surgeon ...
