Re: How often do you flush your port?

I get mine flushed at JACC every month. Dr. Shalaby wants it that way to keep it functional. I have been told I could hold out to 6 weeks, but they prefer 4 wks. I guess mine will stay in until it stops working. I wanted to have it out when I had my reoccurrence. Now, I think it gets to stay. Hope t...

Re: weighing options

Voxx, I did Folfri with Erbitux for 6 months and then continued with the Erbitux only for two more months before I said "enough". The issues I had on the Folfri were not as debilitating as the Folfox. I did have some nausea but it was controlled with meds. My oncologist insisted that I hav...

Re: January Blog - When is Enough, Enough?

Belle, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. This comes up in my mind often and then I push it away. Your honesty in sharing your journey with us here is so helpful to me personally. When I first began this path, I thought I had to always be the strong one and that there was a "r...

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Skypup, I am still here. I check the board frequently, but do not post that often. I feel the loss of our dear friends so much. I fear when I come on someone else will be gone. Since Kathyrn, it seems that we had such a number of our friends go on. I miss Gwen's posts so much! I know I should post m...

Re: Pain in Right Hip

Thanks BS for asking. It stayed painful for a few more days after that post and then got better, so I did not call the oncologists office. Today, I wake up and I am having pain again in that hip. So who knows? We are due for a weather change tonight so that is a possibility. I think I will give it t...

Belle,
Thank you for your updates. Thank you for sharing important information that we may need down the road on our journey. I am so glad that they are going to have you in the hospital this next time to monitor you. What a scary time you have had with this. I will be thinking of you!

Pain in Right Hip

I was sick on Friday with a stomach bug and have recovered nicely from that. Since Saturday, I have had pain in my left hip deep in the bone. It feels kind of like a catch. It is painful when I walk. I have taken Aleve and Tylenol most of the weekend. It is continuing today. Sometimes it will be bet...

Re: Queen Gwen is resting with the Angels now

Gwen, I have a great big lump in my throat as I write this. I hoped it would not be so soon for you and that you would have more time with your Gary and Princess. You are an incredible person and you fought with such grace and dignity. Thank you for always being willing to share your thoughts with h...

Re: Erbitux

Lorri, I was on Erbitux for 9 months in 2013. It does cause a rash, but some people do not get it as badly as some of the pictures on the internet suggest. I only had a rash on my chest and back. Your oncologist can prescribe a antibiotic that will help with the rash. I found that taking a bath in A...

Re: You look healthy...you are going to be fine!

Everything turned out well! NED for me at this time. I get to go to every 6 month check ups. Oncologist is going to go to a yearly scan if the next one is good or if I start feeling "anything" out of the ordinary. Thanks for the poultry swinging and thoughts.

Re: September Scan Buddies

Good news! Scan was very good! No evidence of disease. CEA was below 1.0, no anemia. Get to go to every 6 month checkups instead of every 4 months. Thanks everyone.
