Re: Anyone on XELOX and working?

I worked through six rounds of FOLFOX. Missed a day here and there. Some cycles were just worse than the others. I'd get infusions on Wednesday and would feel pretty good Thursday and Friday, then feel crappy Saturday and Sunday. Could usually drag into work Monday and on the mend after that. Gotta ...

Re: I heart FOLFOX

Thats great news, it looks like folfox is eqivalent to xeloda/radiation treatment. What is the plan after the surgery? Plan after surgery was originally six-eight more rounds adjuvant FOLFOX. Surgeon said I might not need that depending on what they find. I don't understand the logic of that, exact...

Re: Portacath insertion, what to expect?

Hey, we're dx buddies. I'm 40, stage 3b dx 3/16. Assuming the port you're describing is the same as I have - they call it a Power Port - the install is at the bottom of your concern list. It was simple and essentially painless. Biggest pain in the ass was keeping it dry for some period of time after...

I heart FOLFOX

Yes, I know this may be a fleeting romance and I may be cursing its name in the future but for now we're besties. I had six rounds FOLFOX pre-op instead of chemorad. This week was time to see how well it worked. Had chest cat scan, pelvic MRI and flex sig. lungs and liver remain clear. At the primar...

FOLFOX lingering symptoms

I'm sure this is on here somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it. I conpleted six rounds last week and have a little break before surgery. Any basics on recovery time from chemo? At twelve days out the acute effects are mostly gone but there mmis lingering slight neuropathy and fatigue. I've found I c...

Re: Surgery is over

Congrats on getting through surgery; we're close to being diagnosis buddies; see my history below.

I'm set for surgery in August when, if all goes well, I will be NED and the waiting game begins.

Re: Hellooo Neuropathyiiiiiiiiiii

I had neuropathy after round two of oxali and it keeps creeping and creeping. I'm nine days out from the round five infusion. Neuropathy is gone but still have cold sensitivity to extreme cold. It's getting longer and more pronounced with each round. I have a three month break after round six and, w...

Re: Larotrectinib at ASCO 2017

Forgive me for asking this question. It's not as much laziness as not wanting google to give me news I don't understand or plain don't want to hear. I talked with my PA this week and learned my micro satellite status in passing. Didn't understand really what she was saying. Is one better or worse fo...

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

Sealy, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in March and do not have the institutional knowledge of others but can offer at least a question to consider with your onc. Standard treatment for my cancer (stage 3) has been radiation/surgery/12 rounds chemo for decades (or so my surgeon said). I enrolled ...

Re: Parenting after surgery and during chemo

My kids are now 6 and 9. I'm on round five of FOLFOX and interact with them the same as before (less the fucking exhaustion days). If they were sick I'd avoid touching them but otherwise my onc said "act normal, but wash your hands a lot." So far, so good. And this may be bad advice, but a...

Re: Extreme fatigue

Well this hits home. Round five FOLFOX. Pump disconnected Saturday morning. Spent most of Saturday and Sunday in bed. Couldn't make work today and a half hour in the sun with my kids left me exhausted. Still tired. The mouth sores, cold sensitivity and discomfort swallowing are just icing on the cak...

Andre,

Non-cancer related question. Why is your handle "ANDRETEXAS" but you have that Tennessee flag attached?

Re: NEWS from ongoing ASCO 2017: shorter chemo for stage III OK

I sent this study to my onc this morning to discuss next week. Hopefully, he will be aware of it without my having to bring it to his attention. I'm on round five and it's getting worse each time, including neuropathy. I can hack it for another round but another seven? Uhhhhh . . .

Re: 5-FU cumulative side effects?

Fellow traveler checking in. Had round five FOLFOX today and am sporting the 5Fu pump that I really fucking hate. I have low platelet count (75) but everything else is in the clear. My symptoms have not been horrible but the neuropathy, fatigue and nausea have been creeping past seven days now. Onc ...
