Re: New here. Bleeding from bum

I can’t answer the question about the soreness, but I do think they will allow you to use a different bowel prep. I had a colonoscopy yesterday (clear!) and I used Suprep. I got so nauseated and ended up vomiting it back up after the second dose. When I told the nurse this she said to talk to the do...

Re: Are your chemo IVs in a Glucose solution?

Yes, they gave me dexamethasone last year and when I start Folfiri in a few weeks they will again, I believe. This increases blood sugar. I am interested in trying the Keto Diet when I start chemo in order to mitigate side effects. I can’t do full on fasting because that would mean fasting for at le...

Re: Worried -genetic results are in. KRAS MSS

I didn't find out my genetic mutation until I switched to MSK. Why my previous oncologist never told me I was KRAS I'll never know. I just looked up my surgical pathology report again and I'm KRAS G12A. Yes, I did end up with a pesky liver met that escaped the initial treatment. But I've had it remo...

Re: Question about necessity of CEA labwork

My CEA was 5.1 when I was diagnosed. I didn't really follow it during my initial course of treatment. Then it was 2.4 when I was diagnosed with a liver met. Today it's 1.8 and I am currently NED. Given that my initial CEA at diagnosis was a little higher than normal, but was apparently in normal ran...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I've definitely noticed that the neuropathy in my feet has faded over time. I used to get major pins and needles when I took my shoes off at the end of the day, but now it's very faint. We'll see how winter goes when I wear socks and boots again. Just want to encourage anyone else who may be dealing...

Re: I am so worried.

Questions for you guys: 1. If it is rectal cancer, it seems surgery is 4 months out—is that pretty standard? I’m so nervous about it spreading during that time, but the doctor said the chemo/radiation would be fighting to do the opposite. Yes, 4 months is pretty standard. I started radiation in Jun...

Re: New diagnosis and scared

I second what hiker said. My liver spot lit up on the PET, and they were able to determine from looking at both the CT and MRI that it was a met. They didn’t need to do a biopsy. It was something about the glow around the spot that differentiated it from a benign spot. But in any case, the biopsy wi...

Re: New diagnosis and scared

I tried to get a second opinion at MSK after I had started treatment and they have a policy of not offering a second opinion until your current course of treatment is done. Not sure if that’s true at other places.

Re: MSI or MSS

My oncologist was able to tell me that I was MSS from the biopsy taken at diagnosis. However, he didn’t offer it up, I had to ask about it after learning about it on this board. I too have no idea what the standard practice is.

Re: My furbaby passed away last week

So sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking. In August I had to say goodbye to my cat of ten years, the only pet I’ve ever owned. He had similar symptoms in the last days - couldn’t eat or walk. I too was in the room with him when the vet gave him the injection. It was the saddest thing I have ever ...
