Re: colonoscopy prep

Now you got me worried! I've just had one colonoscopy,...and I was really lucky then, as I had one of those nice little brown bags (colostomy). All I had to do,...was run like crazy before the bag might burst. Now that I'm all-together again, (and NED) my next colonoscopy prep is coming in 4 months....

Re: New here... Husband is 29 with stage IIIc and I'm pregna

Hello awags! I also had a perforated colon. ( I'm not exactly a youngster, though). Anyhow,...I was rushed to the ER (by my daughter's insistance)...and they thought it was diverticulitus with perforated colon. Unfortunately, the biopsy showed cancer. I went through all the 12 rounds of Folfox...

Re: Loss of hair

I'm 68,...and had a nice full head of hair. It all started coming out in handfulls with just my 2nd treatment! I just shaved it all off,...and learned to like wigs. Heck,..people are always commenting how really nice my "hair" looks. (LOL!). But yeah,..I hated to see it go, and then have t...

Jeff, This is another source. http://www.fungi.com/host-defense-capsules.html?page=2 I got a good deal (on a sale) on the Turkey Tail mushroom capsules from Swanson. (google "swansonvitamins") I've been taking the capsules and will continue to do so. Couldn't hurt,...and has a lot of good...

Re: Final chemo... Yay!

Ah yes.... finishing chemo is such a lovely feeling. I was so happy when I recently finished, that I didn't even worry too much about what my scan's results were going to be. Congradulations! BTW, my chemo group gave out "Purple Heart" certificates of award when one finishes chemo. Really ...

Re: February exercise and weight loss thread

I do a lot of walking. Like tomorrow,...I will walk about 5 or 6 miles (round trip to see my 97 1/2 yo Mom in nursing home). But I feel I could do more. I'm a pretty fit tiny 68 yo....so I have a question. Been wondering about the fact that statistics show that about 150 minutes of exercise a week ...

Re: Chemo Postponed - Still Effective?

I just finished my 11th Folfox treatment -- after having a chemo break of 3 weeks. I just may have another chemo break before my last treatment coming up. I had so hoped to be able to be all through with chemo before this,....but oh well. Better late than never (as they say). My WBC is very sensitiv...

Re: A Question about Scans

Hello again, everyone. Thanks for all the posts. I just got home from seeing the ONC. My blood count is really low,...so I get a bit of a chemo break. HOwever,....I'm so exhausted feeling that I am totally worthless right now (and can't even get my brain to think right). Anyway,....for those of you ...

A Question about Scans

Hello, all. I really have a situation that concerns me,...yet I don't know exactly how to ask. I am going into my 9th round of Folfox4 (if I don't find out tomorrow that I need another chemo-break due to low white blood cell count). Anyhow,...my confusion and worry concernes my ONC's telling me that...

That's because I get this mental image of myself all slumped down and drooling all over myself. I should do what this one fellow did,.....he threw a light blanket over his head and went ...

Re: Insurance Office Visit Co-Pay

I'm retired,....and have Humana HMO for my medicare. I get charged $25 for every time I go for chemo. They don't charge me for disconnect,...yet the Clinic sends me a bill for $21 for each time I get disconnected. Otherwise,...all my chemo meds are covered 80%,..with the remaining 20% covered by a c...

Re: family and expectations

But I feel so all alone in my cancer battle. That's because whenever I even mention anything remotely concerning it,....she responds with a subdued "hmmmm",....and then quickly changes the subject. This happens every time. I have the EXACT same response from my daughter. Whenever I talk a...

Re: family and expectations

I really do appreciate this thread. I'm in a similiar situation. I'm older (have an upcoming 8th round of Folfox4 to go through too). My grown daughter is an only child and calls several times every day. We chit chat about the kids (my two grandkids) and her crazy neighbors (yes,...they really are c...
