Re: Questions to ask Onc About Treating Neuropathy

Thanks for the clarification on what causes the peeling feet and thin hair. Going today to get a "cancer hair" cut. My hair is so thin and fine now that it won't even curl anymore. Do you think that it will grow back? Is 5FU that strong that the side effects will continue to make me lose m...

Re: Questions to ask Onc About Treating Neuropathy

Thanks for bringing this topic up again -- I needed to hear about neuropathy and how it can last a long time and even re-occur long after chemo is done. Seems the damage from Oxi is continuing on for me too. My feet have peeled in deep layers 3 times; some days I can barely walk. My hair is so thin ...

Re: Back & Spine Side Effect from Chemo?

Just an update -The doctor finally sent me my MRI report. - No Bone Mets in the spine. However, my back has several herniated disks that need to be healed. The pain is awful but at least I am still cancer free! Moving on to a spine expert in Atlanta area. I guess this is a "normal health issue&...

Re: Does time play on your mind?

For all you Stage IV out there I considered when I posted this how you would take this. I certainly understand that you may not be able to see this from my eyes, but I think there is some kind of normal you are hoping for and a way to cope with what you are feeling. I know it may not be the same bu...

Re: New to Cancer

Welcome to the Club! Being on this site is a first step to helping your boyfriend through the journey of cancer and learning how to deal with the healthcare system. I believe that it is really helpful to have the best team of docs who communicate well together and with the patient. At first, I would...

Re: Back & Spine Side Effect from Chemo?

Jen: Your post helps me a lot ...because I think the Onc just thinks I want attention!! I am in such pain too! I call the doc and told him to get me the results today as I am moving on to a spine clinic if it's not cancer in the spine. The guy is probably trying to "milk" another office vi...

Re: Oxi infusion today...and no cold sensitivity!!!!!!!!

CJ Liked your reply back to my post. I wish I could have had more Oxi -- IMO it really works from what I read. I think I read some where that it is similar to the old Mustard Gas the army use way back when....so no wonder the side effects are so painful. :) I hope things on this journey continue smo...

Re: Oxi infusion today...and no cold sensitivity!!!!!!!!

That is really awesome!

I was always given the Cal/Mag with the Oxi rounds I was able to complete and still got the cold issue like you did.

Wonder why your doc didn't know this prior to you having to request the Cal/Mag?

Re: Back & Spine Side Effect from Chemo?

Yes, I had toxic reactions to the Oxi and I think all this pain in my spine and the neuropathy in my feet are from the chemo. I am still waiting for the doc to let me know the results of my spine MRI. I am concerned that it could be bone mets. But, hopefully it's just a disc problem. In any case I a...

Re: Does time play on your mind?

Of course we are all "equal" on this board, but I do think in this regard, the answer to the posted question has a lot, or nearly everything, to do with stage. It's not a contest with regards to who has the most anxiety, stress, terror or fear, but I think for those of us who are stage IV...

Back & Spine Side Effect from Chemo?

I have had severe back pain in my spine from my 4th round of chemo and the pain continuing on after finishing chemo. Has anyone else had damage to their spine or back from chemo? Can colon cancer spread to the bones in the spine? My onc and the nurse kept telling me that the deep bone pain in my bac...

Kathryn:
I am so sorry that you are going through all this. Cancer is so crazy and it makes us so crazy and out of control of our own lives and how we spend our time. You are in my prayers and thoughts!

Re: Job Interview update

I spoke with a well respected recruiter that I have worked with in the past. He told me NOT to mention the cancer for the gap in employment. By law this is not necessary and they are of course not allowed to ask about your health anyway. It kind of bothered me at first not to say anything at first, ...
