Re: RFA on liver - your experience

HI Ashlee, My husband had RFA on two liver tumors last month. Both were about 2 cm in diameter. Procedure took about 2.5 hours, he spent one night in hospital, went home the next day. Basically just a few holes in abdomen where they insert the probes. Back to normal in a few days. He had a PET scan ...

Skypup,
A friend with terminal cancer in hospice stopped food and water. She died 6 days later. Was a very peaceful death.

Re: Regorafenib - any good outcomes? info?

HI Kathleen,
Our docs at UCSF start at half dose, then go up if tolerated. We are in the same shoes, may start regorafenib if they cannot do RFA on the three liver tumors which are growing, lung tumors are more stable. Keeping you guys in our thoughts.

Re: It's the Big R now for me

HI Guinevere, I don't post often but my husband will probably be strarting regorafinib soon too. He has mets in lung and liver and folfiri and avastin is not working as well anymore. Luckily the mets are very slow growing. I hope you tolerate the drug well. One of our oncologists at UCSF recommends ...

Re: Upcoming Colonoscopy - MoviPrep? Tips? Anxiety Managemen

Phillywife, I had my first colonoscopy last month, my husband has stage IV colon cancer, diagnosed over 5 years ago, still doing great. The MoviPrep was not as bad as I had expected, chill it, chase with gatorade. The procedure was NOTHING! I never fell completely asleep, the versed makes you feel d...

Re: how long living w/lung mets & what kind of treatments

Hi Donna, Sorry that you have to go through this. My husband (53) has had lung mets for almost 5 years, there are too many for surgery to be an option, but they have remained stable for over two years on 5 FU and Avastin. No mets anywhere else. If they start to grow, the plan is to hit with 5 FU plu...

Re: East bay area, CA anyone?

Hi Sungold,
On the Peninsula here. My DH was diagnosed 4 years ago, multiple lung mets, stable for over 2 years...Too many mets for surgery, but chemo is tolerable and stable is good! Hang in there, as they say, this is a marathon!

Re: Xeloda & Avastin

My husband has been on the infusional form (5FU/leucovorin) plus Avastin for over two years. His lung mets have been stable or very very slow growing the whole time. Hope this works as well for you. Take care.

Re: Did You Lose Your Hair?

My husband has very thick hair. He kept his hair on both Folfox and Folfiri. He is now on maintenance chemo (5FU and Avastin) for lung mets, still no hair loss after more than a year. Good luck!

Re: Chemo regimes for lung mets

Hi Leslie, I think the onc wanted to start with folfiri plus avastin because the mets were actively growing after being "quiet" without any chemo for over a year. He had never seen irinotecan before so it would be a "hard hit". Once they stabilized, maintenance was started. Our o...

Re: Chemo regimes for lung mets

HI Leslie, My husband is in your shoes. Multiple mets in both lungs, too many to consider surgical excision. They stayed stable for a year with no chemo, then started to grow, he did 8 cycles of folfiri plus avastin, kept them stable. He has been on 5FU plus avastin "maintenance" since Sep...
